Pivetta pitched a great 5, and he took a chance to leave him in, which I have no problem with. The problem with me is who came first out of the BP.

Disagree. He HBP a guy and then another got the base. That was the EXACT moment you put him away. Pivetta is nothing but a depth arm.

5 runs may give you a shot, then again sometimes 12 are not enough. It's a variable equation. They need 5 today for sure

ESPN has the entire Sox schedule, so I went there, checked all the wins (73 so far) and counted the games they've won when scoring 4 or fewer runs (12 so far, and just 3 since the ASG break).

iortiz is one of the masters of 20-20 hindsight. I seriously doubt he will answer my direct question to him about about what he would have done.

Master of 20-20 hindsight? lol In my book is called common sense.

That’s not an answer, but I’d expect nothing more from you. I’m shocked you actually attempted a response.

How is that not an answer? Nobody else is available in the BP?

If you intend to support opinions with facts, you need to be banned from game threads where conspiracy theories ( JH, Bloom, Cora) rule

Right, because in the span of 2 pitches (after the HBP, Higashioka singled on an 0-1 pitch), a reliever was supposed to get warmed up.

Pivetta shows up every day, and is nothing more than a #5 starter.

You make time after the HBP. Visit the mound or whatever you have to do to put him away. He was done.

You are nothing but a bag of excuses.

Yeah, that's why you have to know he will likely collapse.

He gave you 5 solid innings. Nothing more to ask for a 5th arm.

Excellent point. No way will iortiz respond to it.

I asked who you would have brought in. A name. Anyone else is a total cop out.

What about the guy just pitched —Schreiber?

Not sure what you are looking for.

The Sox got the Yankees starter out early , but never followed up with any scoring. They do look disinterested and incapable. As O'B says, Nothing There. I would say Nobody Home Edited by vegasbob

Whatever.

If the Sox lose this one, it’s on the offense. One run on Raffy’s homer and gifted the other on a wild pitch. Two runs does not win many games, no matter who your pitcher is.

Nobody does that after an HBP of the leadoff batter when your pitcher is going so great and has thrown just 71 freaking pitches.

It's on Cora actually. He had everything in his power to give us a better chance to win despite this anemic offense.

And that's a fact, jack!

Do you realize he is nothing but a No. 5th arm —at best?

Lots of games have been won by 2 runs. Go figure!

If you meant lots of games have been won when scoring 2 runs, I can only respond lots more have been lost when scoring only 2 runs.

Schreiber resting my case. Cora is a f***ing clown.

Remember everyone, when a player doesn't perform it's always someone else's fault!

I just did lol

No, you claimed that a Sox reliever could get warm in 2 freaking pitches which these days amounts to 40 freaking seconds. That's a non-answer.

Yeah but you had the lead. You have to protect it at all costs.

Also he is implying there's no way you are going to win with a 2-run lead.

If the Red Sox get a HBP, single or walk followed by a HR, the discussion of who should have relieved becomes moot.

More likely we get a pop-up, infield bouncer and a K, Game Over

You can't be this dumb man, unless you are a pink hat.

He could remove Pivetta before giving the lead, and that's out of the question. Go and look excuses somewhere else.
