CBOs and managers can fall prey to this thing called "hope" just like fans do.

I think it was more of keeping his boy in the lineup when it come to Kike, and Cora.

But Bloom is the guy who signed him - twice.

"Reportedly" they were also in on Moto.

But I can't really tell you what's going on behind closed doors in Phillie World any more than I can about Sox World.

My comment about DD’s inaction so far was more of an example that Breslow isn’t the only one…

You don’t think Cora had some nudging on that? I was very vocal, and against Kike getting Resigned. Like I said he lived off his hot October of 2021 streak on here for 2 years after.

Point?

Kike is a good baseball player. He just isn’t a good shortstop…

Should have been clearer - the Dodgers played him there some after trading for him in 2023. Why would you do that if he's a butcher at the position?

Isn't it more likely he was suffering from a case of the yips which could be short-term or not?

I don’t even like speaking for players and execs. Now you’re asking me to diagnose a player?

The counterargument is that there might not be any team who needed an active offseason more than the Red Sox and who seemed better positioned to do so.

Also it was only 67 innings….

Point was mainly about Red calling Kike Cora's boy. Seems to me you could also make a case he was Bloom's boy.

And Bloom is the one who opened the door to Kike playing SS by not getting a legit fill-in.

I think that counter argument has been made by every non-Ranger fan at some point this off-season…

In this case I’d call it more than speculation, but no concrete evidence either way.

My counterargument would be that if all it took was a nudge, Bloom should have nudged sooner, no?

I pointed that oout earlier. I think Bloom also took too long to give Hamilton - who was killing AAA pitching - a shot…

How were they in better position when there is lots of needs, and lots of teams needing? Big spenders too.

I don't think so, not credibly anyway.

A good player who couldn’t hit his last two years in Boston.

Better positioned as in being a rich team with a lot of payroll room and a freshly re-set tax level.

I think in the beginning Cora told Bloom Kike could handle it. If not Cora, and Bloom gets all the blame.

Finances are not the only way to be active in the offseason…

1. Straight up speculation. Albeit not ridiculous speculation.

2. Still on Bloom for enacting Plan B in such a ridiculous fashion (Mondesi)…

Do you think Baseball ops misread the FA room again, and didn’t think the asking prices would go up like they did especially for the zYam Man, and most likely Monty, and Snell to follow?

It is speculation, but I just don’t believe Cora, and Bloom could be that incompetent otherwise.

Each of them has given me reason to question them at various times. I could see Cora pitching for Kike, and I have no issues with that. Probably done similar things before. But my issue was how he simply never stopped once it was evident it was not working.

I’ve also theorized Cora might have suggested Arroyo in RF as a way to get him in the lineup. But this also makes me question his commitment to defense, since the option of playing the better fielding and worse hitting Bradley was always there for the man who fills out the lineup cards…

What gives us credibility with that gripe?

Mainly being the third richest franchise, having a lot of payroll room and having finished under .500 the last two years.

Yes, I have advanced that theory, and I shudder to think it might be true.

Even if it wasn’t if their main priority was the Yam Man it wasn’t very sound thinking if they thought they could win out over NY, and the Dodgers.

I don’t know how, but I had actually forgotten about the Arroyo, and Franchy at 1B experiment.

Given how the Sox have spent recently, I’d think you would be arguing against any more activity. It’s like the team Kris hitting itself over the head with a hammer, and the proposed solution is to get a more expensive hammer…
