Squeaked out a win to go up 2-1 in the series , looking for the crusher on August 10.

Paxton back on the mound for Boston, vs. Austin Cox, a LH reliever/opener for KC. So guessing that Cora brings the RH'ed lineup with Turner back and Story at SS

James Paxton could help the bullpen by actually pitching well for 7 innings. Sox haven't hit KC pitching much. Actually outscored in the prior 3 games 14-13 by a team with a -161 run differential and 42 games below .500

Red Sox need to wake up the bats and put a show on Thursday night. Keep the streak of 1 going please. I want to do the reintroduction of Chris Freakin' Sale on Friday.

Indeed.

Winning 3 out of 4 vs the Royals is the minimum acceptable record.

Maybe Turner returns, today and can provide the spark he has often done, over his career.

The Boys of Summer are sleepwalking through August.

Hasn't August usually been brutal for the Sox? Can someone look that up?

I thought Story was supposed to play SS EOD?

I know, I know. It's so very important to stick to the plan no matter what.

No Turner.

Agreed, but Story DH'd, last night. The "plan" would have had him playing SS, tonight.

I guess with Turner out, Cora saw a chance to give Story a longer breather.

I'd have started Refsnyder, as I would vs every lefty. To me, that is the bigger than the Story at DH question.

Yoshida is also sitting. I guess the scheduled days off never end.

Only two kinds of pitchers the Sox can't seem to hit these days. Righties and lefties. Or maybe it's just one kind. MLB pitchers.

I was being facetious. Sticking to a plan is horsehockey if you can see it's not working.

That call of runners interference on McGuire was pure chicken shite.

Technically the correct call.

They should do like softball and put an orange bag so they can just run through it in foul ground

Terrible call and really no excuse for it because he was standing on or near home plate and had a clear view of the runner going straight down the line without deviation, including when his foot touched 1b. Was that the same ump who gave Reyes the checked swing before he hit the dinger in game 1?
