Woo got killed 10-1. I'll skip the pitching.

Alfaro 2-4

Hamilton 1-4 (1.094 OPS)

Por lost 3-2 as no pitcher went more than 2.1 IP

Sikes 2-4 (.887 OPS)

Yorke 1-2 w HR and 2BB (.829 OPS)

Kavadas 1-3 w BB

Gre- not many times can we say Greenville was the only winning Sox farm team on a given day.

Encarnacion 5 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 5K

Paulino 1-4 w HR

Jordan 2-4

Mayer 1-3 w BB

Meidroth 1-4

Ferguson 1-3 w 2B

Salem shut out 7-0 with all runs scored in the first.

E R-C with a weird stat line:

0.1 IP

5 Hits

0 ERs

7 Runs

0 BB

0 K

Ravelo went 2-4

In Salem, Cruz line looks weird. One third inning pitched. Five hits. Seven runs, none earned! James kept throwing the ball away no walks and no strikeouts

Top OPS on the Farm

1.134 Meidroth

588 OBP, 11 BB, 6 K, 8 H

They may be forced to move him up to POR sooner than later if he's just not being aggressive enough at the plate. He's not going to learn much by taking BB's off bad pitching.

He's reached base all 7 games. Yesterday was the first day he only reached base one time.

At FCL/Salem in 2022, he had a .438 OBP with 14BB and 11 Ks and 24 Hits in 76 ABs.

In college, he had a .440 OBP with 40 BB and 25Ks in 228 ABs.

The tough part is that he and Nick Yorke play the same position. They'd need to decide where to move one of them if they pushed Meidroth up. I don't think they'd move him before the end of May no matter what.

Did some research. Last season, he lead his league in whiff %. Drohan added a cutter this offseason. He came to ST and also added 1-2 mph onto his FB.

He's pitching his first start of the season today for POR.

@RedSoxPlayerDev

Congratulations to Eastern League Pitcher of the Week, Shane Drohan!

Drohan 2023:

2 GS

11 Innings

11 K

1 BB

0.64 WHIP

It sure doesn't help Yorke's development to have him DH, but maybe we can DH EValdez at AAA (or call him up) and slot Yorke in AAA.

That will not happen, soon.

Feltman was released.

He's was hyped up pretty well, for a while. He peaked at #9 on the soxprospects.com list back in 2018.

Drohan and Hamilton won back-to-back player of the week awards.

Some guys just don’t hit, prospects will let you down more often than not. Also, the system was pretty weak back then too. Michael Chavis was the #1 prospect then haha

Did you just say this outloud?

(Advice: don't ever say "empty.")

Coming out of college, even jacko saw him as being an MLB contributor in the short term. His stuff looked good early on, but he fell apart early and never got it back. He's worse now than he was in college. Only so many bullets in some pitcher's arms.

Yes I did, It's a 100% accurate statement.

Weak is fine. Just don't use the Keith Law slurs.

But I didn't say it was empty. I called the system weak.

Agreed. The fram produced only Houck from Devers in 2017 to maybe Casas & Bello.

Agreed, I would never say “empty” and if I did, or do I expect to be called out on it. I thought maybe you were implying the system wasn’t that weak in 2019 because we had some good guys there.

There’s always a few guys in a weak system. And we’ve been beating the drum that the system was weak back in 2019 and Bloom came in to rebuild it then.

Heck, Keith Law thinks we have a weak system but an above average number of top 100 prospects.

No no no... The Law slur is that Dombrowski "depleted the system." That is unallowable.

If you look at some of DD's farm additions, they are among the top prospects in our system, now, plus Bello graduated.

He did aid the gap, too.

I said the same thing about DD before and I’ve said it about Bloom too. I don’t think they have a lot to do with the amature draft. Maybe the first pick they get involved in but everything from the 2nd round on is all on the scouting department

Light the notin beacon:

@SoxProspects

Ryan Fernandez pitched an inning in relief for the Salem Red Sox today working a 1-2-3 fifth inning with two strikeouts. He's working his way back from right elbow inflammation that caused him to miss most of last season's second half.

We outlawed throwing to third base in Little League, because it's almost a guaranteed run for the offense... every time...

Aren’t you a little old to still be playing Little League?

He lead the league in HRs, every year!

But his team flops in the playoffs because it conflicts with the start of his Pop Warner league…
