Like I said I haven’t heard from any of the beat writers who said the Red Sox did not intend to sign Bogey in the first place like you keep speculating like last offseason, or anytime, before that.

That's not what I said. I said they never felt he was worth what the asking price was at any given point. I think they might have believed their evaluation of what other GMs would offer might bring the demand down to a point they would and could sign him. In that sense, their intent may have been to sign him at a reasonable cost that may or may not ever materialize.

I just watched the video. No, he said "I was very surprised by this deal" he did not say he was shocked by the amount of money he got. That could mean a lot of things, he was also saying it through a translator, and things do not translate 100% I married into a Colombian family and now I'm dating a Brazilian who speaks very little English. So I actually have some real-life experience on this.
