I'm coming from a football (soccer) stance her, so excuse the naivety.

Is there a deadline in the mlb trade season, and do most of the deals get done in the final days?

Because in soccer here in Europe, there's a transfer window, but so many deals only get completed in the final hours of the window, which would have been open for months.

Yes, the normal in-season trade deadline is July 31.

Daisuke Matsuzaka has more hits and RBIs in the World Series than Aaron Judge.

Daisuke Matsuzaka has more hits and RBIs in the World Series than every player like Judge that’s never played in one…

Hmmm, I'm going to have to research this further in the darkest corners of bbref to confirm...

He is 1 for 3 with 2 rbi.

Judge has never played in a WS.

I'm peering into my scrying orb to verify... The spirits are displeased that it's Friday and you two just want to be miserable.

Miserable?

You must be talking to the scarecrows you constructed.

You didn't need to explain that Judge who was drafted in 2013 hasn't played in the WS. The original joke was obvious and fun.

We can still have fun with it.

In the last 3 postseasons, Aaron Judge is 10 for 70 (.143) with 5 HRs, 5 singles, 6 walks and 25 strikeouts…

That means in the last 3 postseason, Judge has the same number of strikeouts as total bases…

Early on in his career, it looked like he had the clutch gene.

Yuck. Yankees should still sign him for 10 years though.

I think if they do he can finally get that strikeout number above those nasty total bases…

Maybe he'll be able to get more hits that DiceK too, someday...

I get it.

I don't get why you think we are miserable, but I've come to accept your errant positions are just part of what this site is full of.

Red Sox have shown a pattern the last decade or so of either finishing in last or making the playoffs. Once in the playoffs they have made runs with 2 titles in the bank. How many World Series have the Yanks made in the last decade? To place that into perspective: Red Sox titles in the bank, and the Yankees losing in the ALCS.

To those who seem totally against planned down times to improve the ability to have higher up times, which would you rather have? The Sox method and record or the Yanks method and record?

(Not that there isn't an inbetween or gray area.)

That’s because the Sox keep playing these games of building up to tax limits with free agents and then watching it all collapse so they can tear it down and do it all over.

I think Henry would prefer his team be like Houston. Star wants too much money? Ok, bring in the next star…

It does seem to look like we are working towards the HOU or ATL philosophy, but let's remember that both of the teams sucked a few years back, and their prospect haul from that era is what is carrying them, now.

Can they sustain a strong farm while winning? That is the tricky part and remains to be seen. The LAD seems to be able to do it.

ATL:

72-90 2017

68-93 2016

67-95 2015

79-83 2014

HOU

84-78 2016

86-76 2015

70-92 2014

51-111 2013

55-107 2012

56-106 2011

If you do the math, the players acquired 4-10 years ago are the ones leading them to top competitiveness.

I'm not an expert on anybody's farm, including our own, but do ATL & HOU have many great prospects acquired after they became good?

The good thing for the rest of MLB is that the owner of the Astros is a dumbass who likes to insert himself. If he gets rid of the GM this offseason, as has been suggested, it shows me that they aren't a serious team long term.
