This pen was suckage from day 1. All you could say for it was that "it had its moments". But on balance.....It sucked. Needed Whitlock right from the start and for the whole season. I don't know who to blame that one on.

I have no problem blaming the bullpen 100% on Bloom. If you're going to go cheap, you better make some great pickups. He only made one, Schreiber. Diekman was a terrible choice. Et cetera.

Strahm seemed okay, until he got hurt.

 

I think the idea was to move Hill or Wacha to the pen, once Sale or Paxton joined the rotation.

 

It's still on Bloom. He deserves criticism for this, no doubt.
