K. Wright , 13-5; 3.22 ERA for the Braves vs Nick Pivetta , 8-8 sporting a 4.51 ERA.

Splendid Splinter asked me to start this thread since he was no longer eligible , somehow knowing the Sox might drop his latest effort as a thread starter.

He did ask me to be enthusiastic and positive, so here it is. Boston is up against a tough starter in Wright , not to be confused with Steven Wright . I think the Sox will break out and score 8-10 runs while Nicky fashions 8 innings of efficient baseball pitching. The Sox will win this one and send Atlanta home crying in their fried chicken and beer.

With Tanner Houck going on the IL with back trouble , joining Josh Taylor , it might be time for the Red Sox to look at the bullpen bench and see if a more ergonomically correct bench could help these guys backs. Maybe add a "back and bike" coach to the staff to work with these fellows . Or could it be their fairly violent throwing motions taking them down the same road to Cleveland Circle that rose up and bit Chris Sale ?

Speaking of Sale , at least we know his non-vaxx status won't come into play in Toronto to end this season . In fact, coming into play is a foreign concept in Sale's world.

Good job, Vegas.

This year's SOX make GT starting about as successful as trying to put a camel thru the eye of a needle.

Just to keep the positivity going, at least there is only 51 games of this s hit show season to go.

Until further notice the SOX bullpen should just be referred to as the 'pen.' There's nothing 'bullish' about it.

Rename it the Bear Den because it hibernates all winter

I thought we had some full mustard hot dogs with the gold chain crew, but Acuna is the stylin' prize winner with his mustard protective gear and shoes

That reminds me of a Uecker clip. He told anyone who would listen that he was paid big money by 4 major sporting goods companies not to wear any of their equipment.

Send NESN a demo tape of you doing Uecker bits and I bet you'll be on the broadcast by September 1. Tell Youk, Hi from Ueck

With the left over bubble wrap we will use to wrap Sale up, this winter, they can use on Arroyo.

The guy is pretty good, when he's healthy, which is hardly ever.

The 'iron man' for the SOX so far this season is Bogey with 107 games played followed by Dugo with 105.

At the end Uecker's speech during his being inducted into the baseball HOF as an announcer Bob said the following "This isn't sour grapes, but I believe I should have been inducted as a player." If you haven't ever seen his HOF induction speech, it's on youtube and it's 18 minutes of laughing your ass off. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

The 2 out bogeyman came through after Pivetta had 'struck out" the prior hitter. This is what happens, the umpire squeezes you and you lose focus.

This is what happens when your team sucks.

Can’t blame the umpire

It's awful when people complain about the umps like it only happens to their team.

Over the course of the season, you will get some that go your way and some that don't.

Get over it.....

JDM has struck out in 34% of his ABs in the last 15 games.

He should be hitting 9th right now!

Will do, Jefferson. And it should read "please get over it." You're such a hateful POS.
