So are you saying it's a good thing they stuck with Duran or a bad thing?

Duran has hurt the Red Sox more than he has helped them. Enough said.

He's also a kid.

26 isn’t old enough to catch fly balls, and run the bases? Come On Man! You are better than that, or at least I thought you was.

Unfortunately with Old Red there's never 'enough said.'

Or enough excuses to be thrown around. Imagine a 26 year old kid isn’t old enough to catch a fly ball.

I can imagine a person of any age not able to catch a fly ball. I know you're referring to Duran and the ball he couldn't see and he didn't hustle after. So, I agree, all SOX fans should judge Duran's present and future on that one play. Of course, if Duran starts putting wood to the ball the like he did last night, I'm pretty sure that will all be forgotten. Because if a player can hit, all of a sudden his defense is less important. Two perfect examples would be Bogey and Jeter.

Maybe the new acquisition mcguire can give him a hand with his wood......

Duran has to be thought of in terms of potential. He has the potential to be an exciting , dynamic player. Obviously , he has to show it pretty soon.

Sorry, but if you are an outfielder playing in the ML you should be able to catch a fly all no matter what the age, and no I wasn’t just talking about the ball Duran didn’t see, and didn’t hustle after. By all accounts on here, and others Duran doesn’t have much OF instincts at all. So you want Duran to be all forgiven, because of his bat last night? Even if he kept it up he still would be a bad OF, and I’m not holding my breath if he can keep it up with the bat. I know to some on here Bogey is no good at all on D.

You've misread most of my post, but that's OK. I should have made it more clear.

More than enough, actually. Duran's WAR is 0.0, which suggests he has not hurt the Sox. I too thought losing that ball in the lights was egregious, especially when he made no attempt to go after the ball once he saw it. But the reality of that mistake is that the Sox had no chance in that game anyway, so it was the perfect game and time to do it. It was painful, but also serendipitous.

Last, night, on the other hand, was all Duran, at least on offense. He won the game against the 2d best team in the AL--at their ballpark--and he did it during a period when the Sox have struggled mightily.
