A. Ashby vs J. Winckowski

More pressure on Winck today than he deserves.

The pressure on Wink today is to throw the game without appearing to throw it.

Sox MUST lose today because that would remove any temptation for management to continue hoping we can turn it around. By the end of the day there should be no doubt whatsoever that we are the sellers that last place bottom feeders all are.

If Brasier pitches today we riot

And insurrect in the executive offices if Brasier is followed by Sawamura

X may be getting hotter with the bat, but JDM may still finish the second half of July in an Oh-fer slump . Feel bad for him and us.

Way to go Renfroe. Stick it to Bloom, and all on here who didn’t think he was good enough, or worth a $6-7M contract to play in Boston. Priceless.

The tried and true formula for July Red Sox: Fall behind in 1st or 2nd inning, play from behind until 8th or 9th , then bat 4 guys with .200/.500 OPS. Sox 1st inning; men on 1st/2nd no outs, then 1st/3rd 1 out---Don't score on a DP from your best current hitter.

Honestly , you can't make up some of this stuff.

Wonder what was the logic behind this trade. JBJ simply can’t hit. That’s a fact, and Renfroe’s defense is good enough to cover the RF with a canon arm. Bloom s*** the bed big here.

Sigh....yes folks jung has been around all this time. I just realize that I am far too caustic for the game threads when the team is playing like unmitigated s***. So I have not been positing.

But I had to come back to post in Splendid's momentous record of the haplessly feeble Sox thread.

When you can't win a single series in your division even with most of your team intact, this cave was inevitable. Wait till the trade deadline when the Sox end up losing players to trade and replace them with the dregs they get back. The team will suffer another cave in on top of this one. They are so short handed that whoever they get back will have to play unless they are pure prospects.

Ah yes...but we have Bobby D. All is saved.

Didn't see the first inning. What was the base-running blunder by Davis? (I assume he should have gotten to third on Bogaert's hit?)

This was a blow out no matter how you slice it.

Said that next year Bloom will be on thin ice if he doesn’t turn things around. He will have flexibility and money.

And we will get.........MORE PROSPECTS!

It did not seem egregious on Davis's part. Bogey lined the first pitch direct to CF and I think Davis would have been 50-50 trying to go to third. I did not put that one on any lack of Davis's effort.

As I've posted more than once I believe Cora was a big factor in getting JBJ back. Just my opinion.

Oh apparently we got good prospects in the trade and they " wanted to improve the team defense " . But yet everyone will say oh JBJ is not the problem blah blah.

He IS the problem

He’s already on ice !

Martinez in the lineup today is laughable if other teams are showing trade interest

He needs to go now

RIP Bill Russell. He was as intelligent as he was athletic.

Yes he was. Too bad much of what I heard of his play was filtered through the gross and embarrassing homer-ism of Johnny Most.

I think we keep hoping against reality that somehow 6PM August 2 that the Sox will get 3 new slugging hitters and 2 starting pitchers, with about 60 games left to bail out the season.

Here's reality, at best incoming players will be prospects for '23 and beyond. Maybe 1 throw-in veteran OF'er? And if someone has you believing that on August 2 you will get the IL list cleared for action, the only good news i see is that Devers should be back, but probably JDM gone ( not that it matters recently). Rich Hill pitching in Houston doesn't warm me up. Sale and Story are not back for all of August, if then. Taylor is done for the year (IMO). Paxton needs a ST. This team is more likely to go 20-40 over the last 60 than 30-30.

Today's lineup features 5 consecutive batters with sub .700OPS, including Yolmer's astounding .087/.309. By comparison, Brewers have one hitter at .695OPS, all others above .700 including 1 at .815, the aforementioned Mr. Renfro.
