MLB seems obsessed with shortening the ballgames. So far we've seen the 'ghost runner' and the 3 batter relief pitching rule. Both, imho, are ridiculous. Next year it will be the time clock. Another joke. The only good change, imho, is when the AL implemented the DH 46 years ago.
