Agree he's not a top 3 player, but that doesn't mean I don't think he's really good. I just don't think he's worth $300M-$350M.

Based on his age and past offensive stats, I'm pretty sure some team will think he is.

We're not even sure what he's asking, and how much he will accept.

I don't think he's demanding top 3 pay.

Maybe the SOX should trade both Devers and Bogey before the trade deadline. They could get quite a haul from some contending teams.

Just put them on waivers.

Quite a haul of what? Prospects? Who none of them may ever turn out to be as good as who they are being traded for?

3 outs away from a second straight shutout. Yuk.

At home to 2 of the worst teams in baseball. I wonder when was the last time that happened.

Well, the SOX aren't going to re-sign Bogey, and Devers, according to some here, is a liability. Might as well start rebuilding ASAP.

Who is saying either is a liability?

Sure looks like a fire sale is coming this summer. To quote the late, great Gilda Radnor, "it's always something" that keeps these Sox from winning with any consistency. Now it's 18 straight scoreless innings vs. two losing teams (Orioles and Reds). Other times it's lack of clutch hitting. Key errors are now a regular thing. The bullpen is inconsistent. The starting pitching has actually been decent given the absence of our most expensive pitchers (Sale on the IL and Price long gone).

To be fair, the sox are a losing team as well.....

Adding to his numerous other flaws, Devers is slow out of the LH batter's box when he hits doubles Edited by vegasbob

I agree. Neither is a liability. In fact, I like both of them a lot.

But that doesn't mean they are worth the exorbitant salaries they are demanding. Bogaerts and/or his agent is/are sounding as though he doesn't have two dimes to rub together.

My one new thought is that agents fight for higher salaries because they want to be paid what their best players are paid.

I see the fire sale you've been predicting because the Sox have the 6th biggest payroll in MLB and keep finding ways to lose games to losing teams.

Also to be fair, I sure hope I'm wrong about 18 straight scoreless innings. Go Sox!!!

Just read the posts, MOON. Didn't say Bogey was considered a liability. I said he wouldn't be re-signed.

I read the post correctly.

JDM, Bogey and Story get to bat with runners on 2nd/3rd and no outs. 2 K's and a popup . Losing record overall, losing record at Fenway , 1 run in 18 innings on a bit of a misplay. Getting ready to call BS on these guys as far as contending goes.

Sorry, Story batted with 2 outs, and Bogey with 1.

Well, they avoided a 2nd straight shut out thanks to votto, but still pretty miserable to get blown out/shut out by the orioles and then lose to the reds, both at home.
