2 hits from Cordero and 2 from JBJ. HR’s from JD and Raffy. Pitching gives up 0 runs. Game ends in 2.5 hours.

Today was a good day.

Sounds like old times ( 2021) with the bottom of the order participating

138 games if my math is correct.

Yes sir but this is why you can’t bury yourself early in a tough division where one team seems to be running away from the division. We shall see but is this team capable of going on a 13 game winning streak? We shall see.

While winning the division is very nice, it's not really needed.

The Yanks will hit a rough patch, at some point. We will likely have a few more, too.

With 138 games to go, there is enough time to overtake the Yanks or do enough to secure a playoff slot.

The SOX play 17 home games this month. They must make hay in May whether the sun is shining or not.

So far, so good.

It's actually 19.

Counting tonight, we play 20 of our next 28 at home (to June 1st), including a 5 game series vs BAL in 4 days.

We have to win, because after this stretch, we hit the left coast road

We all know how we do out there.

What's the over-under on consecutive wins needed to make Stork disappear, again?

Two usually does the trick...

Nothing is guaranteed with this team just very disappointing how they dug a hole for themselves early. Couldn’t stop the bleeding. Anyway get back to 500 and then maybe we can see .

They did put added pressure on themselves to have one or two more hot stretches over the remaining season, but as badly as they have been playing, the last WC slot is not all that far away. (I've been needlessly reminded that last place is just as close.)

In 2018 the Sox ran off a big early win streak and then kept winning but by June the Yankees had almost caught them.

Any way you look at it, last night was a very good win.

Also, as moonslav has suggested, Plawecki does seem to bring out the best in the Sox pitching staff. In Plawecki's 7 games the Sox are 5-2 and the pitching staff has given up 0, 1, 1, 6, 1, 3, and 3 earned runs.

There are lots of playoff spots under the current structure. They basically need to play .500 ball to stay in the hunt. But this team has glaring holes.

.500 for how long?

We're 4 under, now, and I don't think 4 under in August is where we'd like to be, in terms of being in the playoff hunt.

It's not rocket science, and the trend has gone on for years and years.

JBJ + Vaz's contract is close to what Suzuki is making per year.

Why is it "needlessly reminded" when you just as often point out that a WC spot is not that far off?

It's needless, because I know it, already.

Some posters think that if you don't mention something, you don't know it or care about it.

When people are talking about this slumping team digging too deep of a hole, I think it is worth noting just how close we are in the standings to the last playoff slot. It is relevant to the point being talked about.

People look at the standings every day and can see how many games the sox are out of the WC, so they also "know it already".

Great win last night! Hoping some home cooking gets us going. I know this team isn't as bad as the record. I wasn't sure what the ceiling was at the start of the season, but it was definitely higher than this

You know it already? So what, and I know you don’t speak for everybody, because it’s like you are the last pick in the NFL draft. In other words Mr. I.

Nobody should look at standings - good or bad - before July 1st.

Well, considering that some teams finish 1 game out of the playoffs, games now are just as important as games in Sept. So it does matter what your record is.

Very true, but that does not negate the fact that we have 138 games to make up 3 games on the WC3 leader (HOU).

If we keep playing under .500, then it won't matter, anyway.

Sure, we may play very well and end up missing the playoffs by a game, and we can certainly blame April for that, but it's a long season, and 138 games count more than 24.

No, these 24 count just as much as any other games in the season.

Until a team is officially knocked out of a playoff spot, each game counts just as much as any other game (aside from games with obvious head 2 head implications)
