The last guy I want up with a man on third, two outs and one run down is Bobby D.

At least with Bobby D up in that situation we can just resign ourselves to getting on with the rest of the game.

The dreaded runner on 2nd with no outs. Pathetic.

2nd time this series Sox hit an at’em ball (Bogie the other night wa the other when he tried to go through Romano’s stomach).

He is, he's also pitching to a team with half their lienup hitting on a minor league level

Hey Kike got his BA up to 200 today, so it looks a little better for a cleanup man. Way to go slugger.

My bad.

It’s just it has a lifespan of about an hour after the end of the game. You may get actual discussion on the main threads (plus fewer emotional responses).

Some of our posts deserve to die an hour after the end of the game. Heck, some of mine deserve to die about 10 seconds after I post.

Anyone here understand what the plan is for Whitlock except to give Rich 'over the' Hill an extra day of rest? This is just a slightly serious question.

I don't. But I do not believe he serves this year's Sox team well by starting and relieving and closing. IMO, he should not start this year...not because he can't but because he can help the Sox so much more elsewhere......AND.....they need the help.

Good point, but it wasn't meant for an emotional response. It was a reasonable thing to ask considering the change in FO philosophy.

My feelings exactly.

This makes zero sense. If you had plan on using him late game put him to begin with ffs. That's actually worse for him for an injury. Coming into the game cold

I don't have the exact number that situation has happened so far this season, but I'm guessing it's pretty close to 10 times.

Story land is still closed. Hope it opens soon.

Well coming from Colorado we would have had to expect a power outage. But as for the rest of his hitting, maybe he is carrying his anemic 2nd base play to the batter's box. He is as uncomfortable at 2nd base as anybody I have ever seen. Maybe he will get better at 2nd over the course of the season. He can hardly get worse. He makes some reaction plays. But anything he has to think about is a disaster waiting to happen.

Maybe spending Story money on Schwarber would have been a better plan.

See that play Espinol just made. Story would just as likely have tripped over his cleats and spiked the throw right into the ground.

It reiterates my disdain for those who in previous years kept saying just stick JD/Schwarber/whoever at first base. Dalbec is finally looking fairly comfortable there after what, a year, year and a half?

It ain’t easy switching positions, even more so at the major league level.

The RedSox deserved to lose this game today to a division opponent no less. On a day when JD couldn’t play, and Cora decided to rest the leagues hottest hitter when the team has been struggling to score as it is. We found out last year how important every game is in the standings whether in April, or October. One win decided making the post season last year, and finally to top it all off another wasted effort by Whitlock. Way to go Cora.

No doubt Dalbec looks more comfortable playing 1st, but he looks like a deer in the headlights at the plate.
