The reality of baseball is taking advantage of windows. Yanks are within theirs. They’ve got the now impact prospects to cheaply build around their core but they cannot afford to lose their core. You spend to keep your windows open. You shed after the window closes. Yanks have to pay the man

Even if it's $405M/9?

I hope you guys do that.

I guarantee the Yankees aren't increasing their offer by $191.5 million.

That's kind of my point.

If the mets (or Dodgers) decide they will grossly overpay for the most glitzy FA signing in over a decade, the Yanks will be forced to be outlandish, themselves, or go to plan B.

I don't care how free-spending you are, Judge's age puts a damper on a mega-deal.

Not to mention his normal habit of missing substantial time with injuries. He’s not likely to have fewer in his 30s…

Hasn't missed time since 2020 since they fired their training staff

So… two healthy years?

He’s still going to get older and a significant chunk of the 10 year $350mill contract there the Yankees eventually sign him to might wind up being a bit of an albatross.

He stands a chance to be a far greater albatross if Boston were to sign him, however…

I’m saying the Yanks need to sign him. The question of money and whether he’d be an albatross is irrelevant. These long term deals all turn into albatrosses at some point.

I'm not saying he'll be worth it but most of the biggest contracts given out have been to players over 30-31.

This guy will sell tickets, cable viewerships and jerseys like no other player in memory.

All it takes is one desperate GM to make an absurd offer. I think one will. I doubt it reaches my example number, but I just put that out there to show that there likely is a number the Yanks will not match.

I don't think that's true.

The albatross is irrelevant until it shows up.

And if Judge becomes an albatross by 2026, it will be a factor. Especially if Cole does, too…

The Yankees don’t have windows…

Seems like Chapman was cut for the postseason. Seems like it is a disciplinary issue.
Yep, he missed a work out without being excused. The Yankees have issued a fine.

Heard on Houston sports talk radio how Cole was complaining about having to pitch a warm up session at 10- bleeping- 40 in the morning, instead of being back home grilling with Mike Trout.

More talk about the ace of the Yanks being the hardest job in MLB.

lmao!
