JBJ is 2.3 wins BELOW REPLACEMENT LEVEL in 2021-2022, 213 games.

He might be targeted for a deadline upgrade.

I do think 1b is higher priority but maybe Bloom doesn’t.

Or he just gets benched once Kike returns..

It's not good.

Maybe in 2weeks the Sox can strike a deal with whatever team the Yankees foist Joey Gallo upon.

We could get a Gallo hellbent on revenge!

Like Jaws 4? I'm not sure I can get into a Caribbean version of Joey Gallo.

You’re kidding!!

A Caribbean Gallo would be the best. Use Banana Boat song for his walk up music!!

But no Michael Caine. Ever. Anywhere…

By the way, very odd choice for a revenge movie, given the thousands of choices. Liam Neeson has like 200 on his own…

There are 1,569 batters with > 3,400 AB’s, in their career, in the HISTORY of MLB

Only 1 players has

BA ≤ .230

OPS ≤ .700

K ≥ 1,000

Jackie Bradley Jr

crazy but true

He should have retired after 2020, when his career numbers were...

.239 BA

.732 OPS

828 Ks

(Scene) MVP and Michael Caine flying a helicopter over Fenway

Caine: Lovely day.

MVP: I can't hear anything you're saying.

Caine: You need to turn the headset on you nincompoop.

MVP: I can't hear anything you're saying. It's too loud.

Caine: s***, is that Joey Gallo? Is he wearing a tam?

MVP: Woah, is that Joey Gallo? Why is Lorraine Gary holding a harpoon gun? Oh god, no...

My son's official Jaws rankings are 1>2>4>3

No, now he gets to have two highlights: ALCS MVP and this.

Laughing at the bank.

That little blip of a 2020 season really helped JBJ.

He was at .235 (.727 OPS) in his 3 previous full seasons, before he went .283/.814 in 55 games (217 PAs) in 2020.

I can see we - for lack of a better word - drifting off topic here, but only the original Jaws is worth watching. The next 3 are all the charred remains of a once promising movie franchise that ultimately yielded nothing but horrific and disappointing sequels that failed even as entertainment for those of us who appreciate bad horror…

I really don't understand the Red Sox obsession with JBJ. He was a plus defender with a minus bat over 5 years ago.

And this season we traded for him after he came off his worst offensive season .497 OPS and now we're getting another horrible one .553 OPS.

Why do we keep doing this to ourselves? "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

Please don't take this as defending JBJ. I'm still applying ointment to the scabs on my head from the day we traded for him, but he was never this bad for the Sox.

.518 2021-2022 (MIL + BOS)

.760 2019-2020

.722 2017-2018

.834 2015-2016

There was a solid indication of that he was past those even decent years and yet we paid to take him back. This is one of Bloom's worst moves so far.

But it's not like we didn't see it coming. We better hope the prospect we got pans out, that's all I got on this one.

You don't have to convince me. I hated this trade from the first second it was made.

That's what I said, day one. It has to be about the prospects and that Bloom must have ranked them higher than every ranking service on the planet.

Bloom was also taking the chance that JBJ would have an offensive rebound, I think. That's what hasn't come to pass.

I'm sure he thought he's be better than .497. I think he hoped it was also more than .544, his current OPS, but yes, that was a part of the idea.

To me, the biggest parts of the deal were:

1. Improving RF/CF defense.

1A. Hoping a prospect turns out a net plus.

3. Hoping JBJ could hit near .675 to .700.

4. Thinking Renfroe was due for a regression, anyway and not liking his defense.

The best thing about the original JAWS was the late, great Robert Shaw. When he was eaten by the shark, there was no way the sequels stood a chance of being as good as the original. Btw, sequels that were as good or better than the original, imho, were ALIENS and GODFATHER 2.

Agreed on all counts. A great sequel is a pretty rare species.

I do think the Jurassic Park sequels are all extremely entertaining because of the progressive increase in how much more stupid each one gets. It’s like you leave on end think “NO WAY the next one could be stupider.” And then you go see it and find they easily limboed under that incredibly low bar…

The Last Picture Show by Larry McMurtry was a great book and great movie but the sequels (four books and one film) got sillier and sillier. Nevertheless I identified with protagonist Duane as we aged together.:)

Second best thing. Best thing was Spielberg's direction.

The new trilogy is a massive waste of time and a shameless cash grab. Studio: "Look, we've got no story, it's a complete rehash...but...CGI dinosaurs are still cool, right?" If Crichton hadn't written the shameless cash grab The Lost World, I'd say he would be spinning in his grave.

Renfroe has hit his 15th HR tonight already. I say already as he's missed time and only playing in his 60th game tonight. Bradley has played in 82 games and has 2 HR and a meseley OPS

Let's just say the directing was great, the writing was great, the shark was great, Scheider and Dreyfuss were great, John Williams ' score was great, and Mr Shaw was perfectly cast (pardon the pun).

Oh, and the boat was great, even though in the movie a bigger boat was requested by Mr Scheider.

In AFI's 100 most thrilling films JAWS placed second behind Hitchcock's PSYCHO.

Psycho is overrated. Jaws is underrated. The sequels to both were unwatchable…
