Winnable only if it was a 3 game series. So far in the final 3 games the Sox have scored a total of 3 runs in 25 innings. The Astros pitching have completely dominated the Sox bats.

Shaw strikes out about once every 3 ABs and Houston has Maldonado in for defense. It was a stupid play, period.

So you prefer the strike’em out throw’em out DP? Even if the Dugo succeeds in the SB, that puts men on 2nd and 3rd with 2 out for Dalbec (who you have concluded is hopeless). It was a low percentage play, that wouldn’t have helped us much even if it had succeeded with a SB.

Because it is really a low percentage play to put on a hit and run with a hitter who strikes out one-third of the time with a runner with 14 steals in his career.

Well, his team certainly won in decisive fashion, so I can't disagree. But I also think 25 consecutive Sox innings of scoring one total run is kind of hard to blame on Cora. But sure, give Dusty Baker credit for getting the right guys on the mound.

Cora has a plan.

The difficulty is investing time and energy starting with 30+ ST games, 162 regular season then the WC success, the ALDS success , and have the chance for the WS and go down softly with a lot of your shortcomings exposed by an acknowledged better team. Overachieving is wonderful but as Durocher said, second place is first loser.

They did make the Final Four which is better than 26 other worse outcomes.
