I’m not all over the map on Sale, and I would have started him today. Time to take the the kiddie off on him, so what I said was if he doesn’t go today then he starts Sun. Like I asked before who said EO was starting Sun?

Nobody, except I mentioned he might, if we used Sale, today. Or, we might use Sale and Eovaldi, tomorrow in tandem- who knows which one starts, assuming tomorrow is an elimination game.

Two 3-run jobs by Lowe (38th)! Then a back-to-backer by Zunino (33rd).

7 to 1 Rays over the Yanks in the 3rd.

Still early, but calling the Yanks a choke and seeing them watch the WC game from afar would be almost as nice as watching us play the WC game!

Still very early . They got a nice young pitcher going hopefully he throws strikes.

Over analyzing things again. Tuesday didn’t carry over into Wed, Wed didn’t carry over intoThur, Thur didn’t carry into Fri, and last night won’t carry over into today. You’ve turned that dime so many times it’s gone underground.

You make no sense, at all.

You say "all hands on deck," but I'm "overanalyzing" for basically saying the same thing about Sale and Eovaldi both being available, tomorrow.

Even when I agree with you, you criticize my points.

Twisted, man.

jacko was hoping they'd rest everyone, this series... NOT!

Yeah, first of all, you have to give the Rays a lot of credit for respecting the game by playing hard this weekend.

Second, they have had an ongoing beef with the Yankees about HBP's, so I think they have a little added incentive when they play them.

The Rays are making a statement that they don't want the Yankems in the PO'S, because the Rays would feel more comfortable playing any one of the the remaining 3.

I don't know, the Rays beat up on the Yankees just as much as they do us or the Jays, maybe worse.

The Rays have outscored the Yanks 93-48 head to head so far this year.

The Yankems have better starting and relief pitchers than the other 3.

I think they also want to keep players sharp. Not having the play-in games gives them enough natural time off to have everyone fresh and all their pitching lined up to their liking.

I doubt they rest anyone, tomorrow. They may yank the starter a bit earlier than normal, but normal for them is early, anyway.

A reasonable choice , but mitigated by the fact that today is not an elimination game . Sunday may become an elimination game and Monday or Tuesday will be one. Further Sale is not exactly the stopper he has been in the past. I think getting 5 decent innings ( 2runs allowed) is about all he has right now. Having him and EO both available on Sunday is the better course.

In the end , it may be good second guessing fodder for the long winter because I stick by my mid season assessment that this is not a team likely to catch lightning in a bottle and beat any of the other contenders in 5 or 7 game series.

I agree for the most part. Sale is no longer a stopper, but better than Houck. Your assessment is right too that this team will turn on that famous dime, and become good enough to beat the other contenders in a series.

Try to follow along. You are truly lost.

Thanks for keeping me straight, and keep me posted until the Norte Dame game is over.

It's all nice and fluffy to just proclaim Sale is ready to stop being babied, but the guy can't get past 60-70 pitches, and it's NOT overanalyzing to have the position using him on short rest is a major risk, especially when you consider, as you pointed out, Sunday is more likely an elimination game while today's is certainly not.

Sale has been pitching well. Better than most of our starters, but he's coming off TJS and is not likely going to do better today, on short rest, than tomorrow on normal rest.

It's a very simple concept that is not really all that hard to figure out.

With Means going for the O's, today, this might be the best chance to put the Jays out of it.

I doubt the Angels can win, again, but stranger things have happened.

Hoping the Rays hold on, today, but it just comes down to us needing to win.

I know, I now just win baby is overanalyzing, but apparently, that's what I do best.

Stop using TJ as an excuse, and pitchers only throwing 60-70 pitchers this is not short rest. I’m glad you have everything all figured out with that dime of yours.

I'm not making things up. Sale falls apart after a certain amount of pitches, as do several starters of ours. Call that overanalyzing all you want, but every manager in MLB watches these types of things, and for good reason.

Yes, it would be great to be able to stop babying him - and other SP'ers, too, but it's not some freaky opinion to think now is not the time you push Sale beyond what he has shown he can do.

Maybe it would work. I'm not claiming to know the answer. I'm just giving my opinion and try to back it up with evidence when I have some.

It's not "all figured out," and my point all along has actually been to say nothing is all figured out and you can't predict what will happen based on recent trends and results.

Things Can turn on a dime is my position not things WILL change on a dime.

They've been turning on a dime, all year, and the Yanks are showing that, right now. Will the dime flip again over the last 1-2 games? I sure don't know, but you seem to know, so tell me...

Sunday could interesting if the rays hold on here and both the blue jays and Red Sox win today. All 3 games will start around 3:05 on sunday.

Trust me , from local experience in SoCal, anytime you get a key win from the Angels is a gift from God him/herself !

Keep an eye on the LAA closer (?) Raisel Iglesias, with 34 saves on a 76 win team. He is a low profile FA this winter. Not a true stud but could fit in the BP, maybe at a reasonable 2 year contract.

Another Iggy on the SOX. I like it.

Correct me if I am wrong (and I'm sure some will). If the Yankees lose today and RedSox complete a sweep of Nationals, then no matter what the Yankees do Sunday , the WC game goes to Fenway where we have 6 outs to use after the top of the 8th finishes. Kind of reminds me of '78 .
