Jays announcers give Vasquez credit for a nice at-bat! Dude! it's the 9th inning!

I was watching the Toronto feed with the sound muted, listening to Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. Both are more interesting than Buck Martinez.

100% agree. Bullpen was bad but let’s not act like Richards ever does them any favors. He was s*** again today and got lucky. He’s killed the team and bullpen all season.

And Perez is out of gas and that is an absolute killer for the pen to cover for 2 guys out of 5 that are that bad.

Just to reminder people....though this is just my opinion I think it was widely held throughout baseball. Nobody projected this Sox team into 1st place. They wildly overachieved in the first half and like many of the Sox teams of my lifetime have swooned. However I still insist that when a team in this day and age overachieves as this team has, ownership and management have got to step to the plate and support them.

Frankly MLB is getting to be like the NHL. You try to get into a position to make the post season and then at the trade deadline, the teams that are there consolidate the good players from around baseball just as they do in the NHL and THAT is the team that takes you to the promised land. The days of getting a few fill in players at the deadline are OVER.

Henry and the management crew appear to have swung and missed.

Richards gave up 3 ER's in 5 innings and had to go thru the Jays lineup at least twice.

All four Sox relievers stunk, not just Barnes, and gave up 5 earned runs in 4 innings.

I don't like Richards at all and think everything about him, including his whiny demeanor, stinks. But this game was on the bullpen.

3 earned runs in 5 innings is a 5.40 ERA. That is garbage

That’s it. Cora should’ve also pulled Richards when it was 7-2. Instead, he leaves him in to give up the two run homer to make it 7 to 4. Trying to get Richards a win cost the Sox the game.

Give yourself a prize for correctly identifying the skunk of the game.

Sure 5 innings 4 runs. Let’s give the 5+ ERA pitchers an award. The bullpen is on high alerts in the first inning of his pathetic starts. He’s a bullpen killer.

5 innings and going thru the Jays order at least twice. And it was 3 earned runs. The bullpen was not on high alert because none of them warmed up during those 5 innings.

ERod and his 5 inning (max) starts don’t help either.

And no one projected the 2013 team to be in first place either. Both were in first place at the trading deadline. Ben reinforced the 2013 team and Bloom did nothing to help this team. I can’t believe that I miss Ben. I really thought Bloom knew pitching better than Ben, but he doesn’t. Edited by a700hitter

You will NEVER get me to salute these 5 inning starters no matter which team the are on. 5 innings is not even twice through the order for God sake.

So what is your point? Richards is a stopper who gives the pen a breather when he takes the mound? Please.

I'm not going to pile on the BP. The simple fact remains if the SOX BP wasn't performing at a high level most of this season, the SOX would have been out of contention a long time ago.

Sox pen had a bad day, it sucks, but it is what it is. Richards has sucked all season, he is trash every time and he complains he can’t cheat. He needs to go

Reclamation projects rarely work; in this case it was a 10 million dollar mistake by Bloom. Maybe someday he'll explain what he saw in Richards' previous two seasons to justify his blunder.

Maybe Bloom will respond with "well, I loved his spin rate."

Richards does not have a future in MLB without sticky goo. Perez has turned into a pumpkin. ERod is yet to come around and it has gotten so bad that he is back to nibbling for God sake. If Pevetta can throw like he did yesterday out the season that would be great but I don't think that will happen. Hauck is just a kid. So that leaves the weight of the world falling on a guy coming back from TJ.

MOTHER OF GOD!

I forgot Nate. Nate really needs to focus on what works for him in a game. That big selection of pitches he has really does not help him that often in game situations.

Was good to see X swing through the baseball as opposed to the baseball cutting trough his bat. Good to see some offense out of most of the batting order today. But a day does not a season make and we are into the part of the season where the cream comes to the top.

Still a good shot to make the post season. However I won't be surprised if the Sox end up fighting for a wild card spot.

For most of today , it looked like the Sox would win and the Rays would lose. Then it all went sour in a moment . Baseball will drive you nuts sometimes. You can always find scapegoats when you lose , but the fact is you win as a team and you lose as a team.

Sox Radio Announcer closed with “get the Rays on here and flush the toilet”. I think he gives that remark a different meaning than I do. But yes, the toilet is about to be flushed on this season.

Holding a 4 run lead going into the bottom of the 7th we had to go to the well once too often. Our BP was used up and couldn't deliver. Hitting was solid today and produced 8 runs.

Barnes is not a locked down closer. If we had one we potentially win 3 of the 4 games instead of 1 out of 4. That's a huge swing

The excuses people give him here are pathetic. All he needed was one out to get out of the inning and he instead gave up the lead. 🤦*♂️ That’s a momentum shifter. They would have won two games in a row.

Oh and Schwarber hit a snag on rehab. So they won't get him soon. For people who say the Sox don't have a good farm , I agree but they could of had Rizzo for not much even with this farm. Yankees didn't gave to give much
