Homer here would make it interesting.

Homer Simpson makes everything interesting. But, seriously, the days of mojo and magic are over. Someone posted a couple of weeks ago that there was no such thing as mojo and magic, but, personally, I couldn't come up with any better reasons that the SOX were in 1st place.

Perez starts where he left off last game.

Yeah but he is not as bad as the last two. These new two arms are killing this team.

The problem with Robles and Davis isn’t so much that they’ve been ineffective. It’s that Cora insists on using them every game. They’ve combined for 7 appearances since the last time Garrett Whitlock pitched…

Well that is about the span of time since the last time the Sox actually looked like they were in these baseball games. But I take your point. What is Whitlock in mothballs. Saving him for next year?

Whitlock is being coddled as if he was made of porcelain. We know Arroyo is made of porcelain.

Perez again? Didn’t he get demolished yesterday?

Sale should have pitched his rehab with the big club.

Houck should never have missed a start.

Now, it's rubbing off on Eovaldi.

NESN broadcast team trying to pump the audience on the hope of a Sox comeback in this game. Little do they know that there are about 20 guys and a ham sandwich watching at this point.

Hope the ham sandwich has Swiss cheese with it. Makes a big difference in flavor, imho.

I don't remember 2011 so clearly, but can't believe it was as bad as what we are seeing now.

Similar; the pitching absolutely imploded in September that year.

They are not going to use him when they are behind, especially way behind. Plus Houck is not going to go more than 4 or 5; he’ll be needed then.

Good point. Hopefully, the SOX can be ahead in one of the games so he can be used. Hope springs eternal.

Back then A700 and I predicted the collapsed in early August. Literally everyone went to our necks. It was shocking.

Said that, as bad this could look like right now, I don’t see that this year.

Back then is when I first used the term “death spiral”. I also referred to “circling the drain” quite often. We did predict that collapse. No reinforcements were added at the end of August that year and like this season, 2011 Sox had no competent starters. They just needed to win 6 or 7 games that September, but they lost day after day and the losses were obvious by the 3rd or 4th inning each night. It was excruciating. This season will be less painful, because we probably will spiral out of contention before Labor Day.

The 2011 Sox had Beckett (2.89 ERA) and Lester (3.47 ERA)…
