So if this holds the sox would be up 8 games in the win column and just 6 in the loss column on top of the Yankees. I have seen crazier things happen but this series leaves a sour taste.

You say that like a good thing. I see it as losing the series. This is without their best hitter as well. This could jumpstart the Yankees.

Not having Sawamura available definitely hurts.

Hmmmmm.

 

Looks like Cora wants to win this game after all. So do the Sox hitters of course.

 

The problem is Germain and the simple fact that good pitching tops good hitting.

If Germain and BP complete the no hit shutout , Sox will be 10-9 for July and have blown a 4 game lead over the Rays . The warts do show up over the 162 game schedule. I think Chris Sale's pending return can't come soon enough to reenergize a sleepy bunch in late July. Having said that the problem is hitting and lineups loaded with AAAA'ers

I think I saw Duran in a supporting role in the Clint Eastwood film, Trouble with the Curve--except he's much skinnier than that guy was. But he has that swing and miss down pat.

I trust that Duran has been coached by the same people who produced Chavis and Dalbec, none of whom can recognize a breaking ball in the dirt,
