Definitely, but I'd rather trade JD than Barnes.

At this point, I'm thinking trade JD and Barnes for a 3 nice prospects.

Then, trade ERod & Ottavino for 1-2 nice prospects.

Trade Marwin for a promising low level prospect.

Didn’t George pass?

Hank always looks constipated in pictures I see of him.

Hank passed too. It was a joke in very poor taste on my part.

Me, too, but at his cost, we would not get nearly as much as with Barnes.

Barnes's contract is a plus.

True, but pitching being the elephant in the room, trading away one of the best closers in the league creates a bigger pitching problem.

Good point. Looks like the SOX are screwed.

Getting top prospects would help us not be screwed, and our 2022 outlook is not so bad, assuming we spend over the lux line.

As if this game isn't depressing enough, guys are launching into sell mode.

I think you're looking towards the future, where I'm looking at contending this year.

This is based on the assumption the 2021 season is lost.

Barnes has 4 months of control left, and we can re-sign him, this winter.

Trading JD for a ML good SP'er (assuming that can be done) is going to get us to the promise land in 2021????

I'm far from packing in this season. I'm talking hypothetical scenarios in mid to late July.

When was the last time this team produced a pitcher in the minors? Was it Lester?

Depends what you mean by “produced.”

ERod was acquired as a minor leaguer, and pitched in the minors for Boston. Does that count?

Only ones worth mentioning are Barnes, Papelbon and Buch.

Maybe we traded someone away? (Frank Montas or Anibal Sanchez?)

Not much, really.

Let's hope Bloom and his crew change all that, soon.

Toronto's doing the 'launching;' Moon and I are just conversing.

Talking about the actual game would be detrimental to my health.

My hope is that Sale returns as a starter and is close to what he used to be. I'm also putting my hopes on Richards getting his control back.

Technically the “last one” was Tanner Houck.

or Whitlock, if you count minor leaguers who started with other teams.

Houck had 3 nice starts. I'm not sure he counts. Whitlock, too.

I was guessing that Tyler was referring to starters.

Some were all gah- gah over Masterson that they wanted him back.

Then, Buch, Montas, A Sanchez, ERod,,,

Nobody close to being an ace or being like Lester.

in order to get a multi-year commitment, not necessarily more money for a single year.

Trade Marwin for a promising low level prospect.

JD may well look to opt out next season in order to get a multi-year commitment (3 may be) instead of more money any one year. If that is the case, the Sox may trade him this year, but I can't see it happening if they have a legitimate chance to advance in the playoffs. Barnes has become a premier closer and in my view the Sox will try very hard to keep him. E- and was probably thought of as value is dropping with multiple poor performances this year. Where do we get a quality left hander to replace him. Sale is one if he makes it back but it would be nice to have a second. Ottavino might interest teams who are serious contenders, but then if we are contending, we will need him. Marwin was a one year place holder replicable by prospects so he could be replaced this year but his flexibility is useful for us so he could continue in a super utility role.
