Trade him and eat his salary!

In fairness, it was me who said, "get him rolling, trade him for a shitload???? move Devers TO DH, add pitching, & let it roll....

IDK? On nights like this, assuming the RS have a shot, that sounds crazy??? BUT....

Still love the guy... just ******** spitballing after getting skunked in games 1 - 3

we need a reason to tune in, even if they will no5 make a playoff run. Maybe swap Devers to first and Dalbec to 3rd or get Devers a bigger glove or a basket or something.

With so many Rays relievers down, their pen is now suspect. Although the Sox did tie it off of two of their best in Fairbanks and Castillo. Fun game to watch for sure

Now, that's how you beat the Rays!

Devers did make a nice play, last night, but swapping the two has a lot of merit.

It might be harder to do in the middle of a season in progress, and I think they want to give Devers one more long look at 3B.

If we are, indeed a non playoff contender, as you point out, why not find out for sure, even if just for a couple more months?

He did look pretty good a couple years back- a very long stretch.

What a game last night!!! I could only stay awake until the end of the 10th but I could sense that we would pull it out. I also called the Vaz HR in the 9th. There's definitely more life to this team than last year. Not sure exactly what that means, but it's something

The joyous walk off hit by JD, last night, brought that out, for sure.

Yes, every team goes nutty after a come from behind (several times) win like that, but hopefully this will be the "shotof juice" they need to go on and surprise some people, even some bummed out fans like we have on this site.

That begs another question: Is RF at Fenway really that hard (even at night) or does Arozarena need to work on his defense? I didn't watch much of the postseason last year, so all I've seen from him has been pretty disappointing. I thought he was supposed to be a budding star?

My optimistic spin is that it means the team plays hard for Cora. In a challenging season like this one, the manager can really make a difference.

Good point. It certainly helps to have guys like Kike and Dugie providing instant sparks whenever they get on base or make a big play. And Vazquez taking a ride in a shopping cart is the kind of fun thing that teams with good morale do.

The last time we've seen emotion close to that was Verdugo's home run saving catch early last season.

Agree. Napoleon did in fact say that he would rather have a lucky general/marshall than a brilliant one.

Cora does seem to have that touch that gives a team confidence, and this year he seems to be going to the mound more often than in seasons past.

I was mad when he left Andriese in too long in the 11-2 win, but last night thought the pitching was brilliant and, going against Glasnow, much needed. Perez surprised with a decent start and 5 innings, and the bullpen went 7 giving up 0 earned runs.

RF is hard because it's huge. Plus, you can misplay a ball down the line and it's a guaranteed little league home run.

And sometimes the short wall just swallows you whole.

Agreed with this. Definitely a position I wouldn’t want lol

The catch by Cordero was/is a rarity. Most outfielders insist on a minimum safe distance when playing near the Green Monster.

Yup. Arozarena already made a terrific grab in right center. Outfielders dread what George C. Scott said he dreaded in the movie Patton: a bullet headed right for his nose. In this case, it was a line drive right at Arozarena with too much green between him and the fence/wall.

Thinking about it, I'm inclined to say Fenway overall just might have the nastiest outfield in MLB because CF is also no walk in the park.

Yup, the hardest play for an outfielder is a rising liner hit right at his head. It gets even trickier when a batter goes oppo, because their drives tend to curl away towards the lines -- and we could see Randy get twisted the wrong way on that play. The lights and time of night (zzzzzz) are also factors...

And on top of that, how many times have we seen visiting LFers misplay a carom off the wall? Add in a bright and sunny afternoon, and RF becomes hell. So yeah, I definitely agree with that statement.
