So now you have no excuse for missing it ;)

It's just like the old NL Central/AL West. I don't think it'll affect who makes the playoffs based on the settings (division leaders makes playoffs, and then top records), unless all 6 teams in that one division have a better record than all 4 teams in the other division.

Also I don't know if it could still be changed, but since there's only 10 teams this season maybe there should only be 4 playoff spots rather than 6.

Good luck everyone! Sorry I had to drop out. I just have way too much going on in my life at the moment. I'm spending this summer chasing my dreams. Hope to be back next season

Good luck to you with everything too, Thunder.

And I need pitching!

I'm pretty sure everyone needs pitching. It's the one thing I end up micromanaging all year.

I like some of the categories that emphasize what type of pitchers I need. QS and Net Saves make for wholly different strategies than Wins and Saves…

I like net saves, but am not sold on quality starts.

I don’t like quality starts either. For all of its shortcomings, Wins are tougher to get than Quality Starts. Most SPs have more QS than Wins.

For fantasy purposes, I don't have a problem with QS or wins per se. It's just an interesting dynamic that a guy can go 5 2/3 with 0 ER and not get a QS, but another can go 6 with 3 ER and get a QS. I'd think the former pitcher performed better than the latter.

6 innings 3 runs is a QS, but 8 innings and 4 runs is not a QS. Both are a 4.5 ERA. I’d rather have a guy who could go 8 innings. 9 innings and 4 runs is better than a QS on every level. I think that we should change the pitching categories next season.

I like the QS category over wins.

It actually makes pitchers on some of the lesser teams a little more appealing. Sure the “ace” of the Pirates (whoever that is) won’t rack up more than 10 or 11 wins, but he might be able to go 6 with 3 ER more often.

The downside is if you have a trigger-happy manager with the bullpen and yanks your starter after 5 shutout innings. I’m looking at you, Kevin Cash…

Wins could also provide some value to late bulk relievers like Kopech.

True. And Net Saves takes away some of their value…

Net Saves makes non-closing relievers a liability, because they'll never get you saves but they will get you blown saves.

Yep. Although if they are good, they do help ERA, WHIP, and in some cases, strikeouts…

And a pitcher can go 5 IP and give 5 (or more) ER and get a win because his offense bailed him out. Meanwhile another guy can go 8 IP 1 ER (or less) and not get a win because his offense or his bullpen or both didn’t help.

At least the QS takes the offense and the bullpen out of the equation and makes it more about your pitcher…

Agree with this, I prefer QS to Wins. Wins devalues good pitchers that play on s*** teams.
