On July 5th, we were 10.5 games back of the Sox. Now we are ahead. Keep this train rolling yanks! (And I fully expect yanks to lose tonight, Heaney sucks).

No ya don't.

I do actually. Yanks suck at sweeps, they rarely win the final game. Pivetta has been good and Heaney is a fly ball pitcher against a HR hitting team in Yankee stadium. I’m expecting a deficit through 5 and Boone to rest his pen and allow a beating. That’s my expectation. My hope, clearly, is that the Yankee offense can keep up with the rockets Heaney allows and the pens face off against each other.

Rizzo set to return vs Twins. Likely to see Gallo shift to CF and Stanton shift to LF. Will allow Voit to DH and Rizzo to move to 1b. Team will have a stacked lineup once Gleyber and Urshela return

I would be satisfied if Heaney gives us 5 innings and gives up no more than 4 runs. He sucks so badly that it would be unreasonable to ask for more.

And I, as a growingly pessimistic Sox fan, smell the dreaded reverse lock...

As a recovering bettor, I have to say, this is real (but can't be proven to be so.)

12 game swing in the standings in 6 weeks. Yanks red hot. Kluber getting stronger in the minors. Gleyber and Urshela close to a return. Sevy’s shoulder, per Boone, turned out to be nothing and he’s planning to throw next week (believe that when I see it). Reinforcements are coming.

I'm not sure I'd be that excited about your 'reinforcements'. Your D squad plays better than your A squad.

10 in a row

The Yankees are peaking early. They will burn out by mid September.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox are pacing themselves. The Yankees won't know what hit them.

You don’t honestly believe that

Why assume this will continue?

You, yourself called this team every imaginable name in the book- and meant all of it.

Now, suddenly, these players, coaches and managers are new people?

The talent finally showed up. That and the jolt of lightning the trade deadline and the farm gave us should keep this rolling. Now we won't roll off 10 in a row again, I do think this team is capable of playing .600 ball the rest of the way considering their cakewalk schedule

Personally I'm seeing some annoying parallels between this team and the 2009 Yankees. Including the results against us.

My thoughts exactly. Didnt the Yanks lose the first 7 games to the sox in 09 and finished 10-9 against them?

Of course, they are capable of playing .600 ball, but much of what annoyed you when they sucked is still out there on the field, everyday, including Boone.

Odor and others are still playing FT.

You were talking about trading Voit, not long ago, now he's your savior.

A few of your farm arms have looked good out of the gate, but let's see how they adjust to the league's adjustment to their weaknesses.

I'm not predicting doom for the Yanks. I said all along, I viewed them as our top competition. The Rays have impressed, but the Yanks are still the team we need to beat, and anything can happen.

You saw the Sox & Yanks turn on a dime. What makes you think it can't happen in reverse, or that both team will continue as they have the past 2-3 weeks, when all year, it hasn't worked out that way?

I don't blame you for feeling high and confident, but much of this team and its character is the same as the team that went about 100 games earning your wrath.

Even crazier. Sox won first 9 and Yankees won next 9. They 'only' played 18 that year.

And our team is the same as the one that was in first place at the trade deadline...except it isn't playing like the same team.

Not really.

Sale never played in 2021, until after the deadline.

Houck missed a lot of time before the deadline. He's back FT, now.

Schwarber is a major get. The delay of him joining the team made some forget or minimize the addition.

We're playing worse since the deadline, is what I meant.

And the Yankees added some guys too, obviously.

I knew what you meant, and of course both teams could keep playing like the last 2-3 weeks, like the first 100+ games, or somewhere in between.
