And thank you, Ohtani for choosing the Angels over the Yankees. Ohtani playing half his games in the Stadium is the stuff of nightmares.

Just when hopes were rising on Taillon improving and Kluber returning, poof

Definitely a relief to my spiteful soul to see them melt down in these last starts.

Posted

Kluber was lights out through 3 innings. His pitches flattened out after that, which is expected for someone who only got up to 50-60 pitches in his rehabs.

Taillon lost the sharpness on his breaking ball. He missed two seasons due to TJS and is eclipsing 130IP. He needs a breather.

We have a kid in the minors who threw 15IP of dominant, shutout ball in his three starts. He should come back up and start, we should rest Taillon and keep Heaney as the piggy back for Kluber until Kluber is fully stretched out

He certainly fixed that. Now that’s what a stopper looks like. Good to finish the trip on a high note. We never do well on west coast trips. Now it’s time to lock in for the final month. Only travel is in division and now start a home stand with Baltimore

They should give him a couple day breather and push Stanton to the OF

I'm not sure I'd risk an injury to Stanton. He is carrying you guys.

Britton down for the year now Loaisiga on the shelf with a cuff strain. They’re hopeful ten days of rest and a cortisone shot will be enough to get him throwing again. Best case is he’s back for final week, which is not a likely scenario

Up 7-4, you turn to Andrew Heaney. The guy loads the bases with no outs and Boone leaves him in. Shockingly, all runs score

Losing Loaisiga is a major blow. He was a rock in the Yankee bullpen. I don't know why that kid Gil is in the minors when you see some of the stiffs they have been using. Strange.

Not sure why you don’t use Green then burn him for 2 innings in a game you’re down. Boone sucks

Yes, that was brutal work by Aaron. I could hardly believe it myself as I watched it unfold.

It is actually kind of surprising the Yankees traded G.Otto in that he could help the team this season from the bullpen. It would have made more sense for the Yankees to keep Otto and include a younger high upside pitcher who isn't ready for the big leagues.

Then again, maybe the Rangers really liked Otto and demanded his inclusion. Who knows. I thought the decision to use Green yesterday was "interesting" and somewhat surprising.

Let’s look at today. We play Gallo vs Ryu. Now, I understand how hard it is to bunt the guys chucking 100mph, but Ryu is a shitballer. Gallo is third in baseball in bunt hits. He K’d 4 times. We had one hit through 4 innings. You gotta do something to disrupt a good pitcher’s flow. Drop a bunt down, get on base, make him throw more pitches. Every batter seemed to be trying to yank the ball out of the park and chased a ton of pitches out of the zone. The 21 Yankee offense has to be one of the biggest disappointments all time between performance and pedigree. The team should be scoring 900 runs. They’ll be lucky if they hit 700.

Ryu's command was near flawless today, I don't remember the last time I saw a pitcher consistently hit the for corners of the strike zone all game long. Would've been hard for any team to hit him. But in any case the Yanks are clearly slumping right now in all phases, especially the bullpen. I'm hoping we'll see Gil replace Heaney (pipe dream I know) and King/Schmidt replace Kriske/Velazquez.

There’s just something missing. There’s a lack of hitting situational awareness

And you have to question Cash's judgment in a big way on the Gallo trade. Gallo has been unbelievably bad. 61 K's in 151 PA's.

Cash said "let's make this one-dimensional offense even more one-dimensional!"

Teams don’t collapse like this late and recover. If the Sox make the PO’s it’s because the A’s collapsed as well

Wishful thinking on your part.

The Yankees are in the midst of a collapse. Perhaps they won't make the playoffs.

It's as if the Yankees are on a " hot streak" or something. But we know there is no such thing. However , a one game play-in against a rejuvenated Chris Sale has to be causing some angst in The Bronx.

Yankees fans are worried. Very worried.

There's no such thing as 'peaking too early'.

This is true. But there is also no such thing as momentum, in terms of future performance. :)

You're either a good team or you're not. That's what it boils down to.

I feel that it is my duty to point out that the Orioles have only won 43 games, and 7 of those wins have come against the Yankees.
