All I will say on the subject is that Chief Wahoo wasn't honoring first nation people. MLB was right to get rid of the logo in 2018.

Stanford did the right thing back when Nixon was President. It's good that Cleveland is doing it now.

To me at least, there is a difference when one group of people tells another they are being insulted. It's one thing if, say, a member of the Seminole tribe tells Florida State they do not like how the mascot portrays them. It' a completely different matter when some white guy says that mascot is insulting to Seminoles (unless he has consulted with them)....

Well, it's usually white girls my age with nothing better to do, but I get your point and agree with it. I feel the same way. Like, let them come out and tell us they feel marginalized. By assuming how they feel, you are basically treating them just as badly.

I certainly don't disagree with that

The world is getting stupid. Debate me all you want, this world is a sensitive joke now. Smh

Seems like you're very sensitive about the issue.

Cleveland won't be changing their name until next offseason now. LMFAO

So what do they call them, the Eries? No that might be too close to the name of a tribe, plus they might insult some scary folks. LSMFT

How long before they go after the Cleveland Browns out of ignorance?

No point. The team mascot is the letter "L" from the loss column...

It appears from my brief and unofficial surveys, that your basic MLB fanbase has more stupid, chest-thumping, racist a-holes than your basic NBA team fanbase. But my methodology may not be sound.

You know what they say: There's always at least one a-hole in sight

The origin of the Braves nickname is quite curious. Growing up in Boston in the late 40s early 50s I was originally a Braves fan. My 1st Major League game was a Braves game. I always thought erroneously it turned out that the braves were named after the patriots who were dressed up as Indian Braves to throw the tea overboard at the Boston tea party. It turns out that the Braves got that name after their owner Frank Gafney in 1912 who was a member of Tamany Hall. Member were called braves after the Indian Chief who was the symbol of New York Democratic Political machine Tammany Hall.

So the Braves are actually named after a corrupt Democratic political machine.LOL

That was the initial announcement. The team decided to take a full season to decide on a new brand name rather than have some sort of temporary moniker like the former Redskins teams. Given the choice of the Washington Football Team, I am ok with that call...

So maybe the "Tomahawk Chop" is actually being misinterpreted and the real meaning is one of extending hands to accept bribes...
