One guy who probably deserves more mention is Tommy La Stella. He has been worth 3.2 fWAR over the past two seasons, but that gets more impressive when you realize he has only played 135 games in that stretch.

 

LHH which makes for a nice platoon with Chavis or Arroyo at 2B. Versatile player with experience at 1B and 3B as well. Average to slightly below defensive grades. But he also never strikes out. Since 2018 he has only 40 strike outs and 47 walks (none intentional)...

I do agree that PITCHING is the #1 & #2 priority...

 

BUT... It is clear we are in the midst of decimating our outfield outfield, and our corners are pretty iffy?

 

We can not become myopic in looking at our deficits!

 

I like the potential of Verdugo, and we have some decent 2nd & 3rd tier supplements, but our OF has essentially been wholesale gutted from 2018. Nowhere near locked down.

 

BOGIE is THE MAN, but let's face it, the rest of the IF is suspect at best.

 

If we are in fact re-building, pitching is #1, but a shite infield can kill a SR in a hurry.

 

Vaz is good, but 2nd tier.

 

I'm not sure I'm seeing the path to rebuilding, but rebuilding can't be based solely on the SR, especially when it seems we are bent on signing bargain 3 year deals? DON'T GET ME WRONG, I like bargain 3 year deals on 2nd tier pitching, but that ain't gonna bring us far in the post-season?

Multiple people involved believe this market will open up with LeMahieu off the board.

Does his versatility increase his AAV? If so, may be better to get a 2b only guy. Unless, they expect Downs to move up quickly and will let Kike move around once that happens. What if they sign Kike AND someone like Schoop?

I'm sure his agent thinks his versatility should increase his AAV. but unless another team gets involved, not sure what other options he has.

 

I think if they sign Kike, it's for 2B only. For some reason, I am still totally convinced Bloom i going to sign Brad Miller for a LHH utility role...

I like Brad Miller. He seems to be a fit. I just assumed that his past with the Rays made him too obvious of a choice.

Since we need a CF'er (or back up CF'er) and a 2Bman, I think Hernandez on a 2-3 year deal is a great fit for us.

 

If Downs moves up quicker than expected, he still can have a key role on the team. If we fill an OF slot somehow, he can still have a key role.

 

If he becomes the next Brock Holt, that's important, too, especially on a team that fills one roster spot with a DH only player like JD.

Genette and Downs .Flame away but the guy had surgery and had a rough patch .I know it won’t happen but I hope it does.I know for some it’s too much of a gamble and it’s understndable.Watching Genettes bat when healthy plays big at fenway tons of pop and he’s not Pedroia at 2nd but he can hold it down just fine .1 year 2 million lightning in a bottle contract with incentives to reach 5 million all star game silver slugger games started .Please watch his 2018 season highlights ...like I said he had surgery and he struggled but this is a buy very low candidate with enormous upside .

Appreciate that Belly .I would love Marcus too but Genette was an All star in 18 then had a horrific Groin injury and for obvious reason had little output with San Fran lasted a month in 19 .Dude didn’t play as far as I’m aware of in 20 ? I love the player and what he brings when healthy .Cant Bloom atleast try him out ? Guys still only 30 !!!! Wish I had Blooms number lol .
