This is why I don't necessarily believe Gammons. Cora was a splish, compared to a Bauer or Springer splash that would best serve the Sox in the standings and ratings. But if they're not going to risk losing an invaluable draft pick for such a signing, then fans better brace for a big-time trade.

Ozuna would be a splash.

And in a non-pandemic offseason, he might be a 5 or 6 year splash.

But in this cost-cutting, "$10mill is too much for an All Star closer" off-season, he might be available for a 3 year splash...

Keep an eye on notin's Vazquez for Kiermaier/pitching prospects trade idea.

Also possibly known as notin's "Vazquez for Inciarte/pitching prospects" trade idea. Atlanta has oodles (Yes, I saud ut again - oodles) of young pitching and a completely expendable Gold Glove caliber centerfielder on a one-year deal ($9mill deal)..

There is also a Lorenzo Cain variation, but no idea what KC wants or would accept to shed the final deal of Cain's contract...

If Bradley projects at 2/12 would you pull the trigger and if not what do you see 1/4? What can you get for that?

I would not pay JBJ $6M/1- certainly not $12M/2. It seems many think he will get that or more, so I'll take Marisnik at $3M/1 or $5M/2.

Good ideas but Lorenzo Cain has been with the Milwaukee Brewers since January 26, 2018.

Oh yeah.

Well, same idea applies. No idea what Milwaukee wants.

They might do Chavis (replacement for the departed Gyorko) for Cain and a pitcher. But no idea what pitcher. Especially since former questionable prospect Corbin Burnes morphed in Cy Young in the middle of last season....

As an aside, in 2016 I saw righthander Corbin Burnes pitch for Saint Mary's College of California:

The right fielder for the Gaels was Anthony Gonsolin, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Tony Gonsolin was the starting pitcher in the deciding Game 6 of this year's World Series.

Well, he was the opener at least. :)

To bring it back around, I could see the Sox dealing Chavis for Cain and Adrian Houser. BTV does not like that deal for the Sox and Milwaukee would need to add an additional piece, such as minor league catcher Mario Feliciano...

This article does say

"MLB Trade Rumors predicted Bradley Jr. receiving a two-year, $16 million deal. Other high-end free agent outfield options include George Springer and Marcell Ozuna, both of whom will also cost a draft pick if signed due to the qualifying offer attached."

Ozuna does not have a qualifying offer attached...

For those who voted Duran, there is a 0% chance he will be the opening day CFer. He might earn the job, but he will not get it. Bloom is very much a guy who manipulates service time. By delaying Duran into May or early June, he can be controlled for an extra year

We shall see. If Duran looks ready in Spring Training and if the Sox don't resign JBJ, he could and should get the start.

Then why did he allow houck to pitch a few starts in 2020?

Tanner Houck's two weeks at the MLB level fell far short of the 172 days needed for a full year of MLB service. Under the special rules for the shortened 2020 season, Houck was credited with 36 days of MLB service:

Don't be surprised if Houck opens the 2021 season with at least 40 days in the minors to extend team control through 2026.

He's not getting over 130-145 IP in 2021, no matter what, so why not?

The Sox will bring in another CF long before Spring Training starts, whether it’s Bradley or Pillar, or Kiermaier/Inciarte/Cain/whoever...

At the very least, they need a 4th OFer that can play CF.

I think they sign a starting OFer on a 1 or 2 year deal. There's no reason to rush Duran. Make him force the issue the way Beni and Devers did.

I don’t think they deserve a fourth outfielder who can play CF. Not after they let Cesar Puello slip through their fingers...

There were just allowing Puello to continue on his journey of playing in every organization at least once.

Ah, the Edwin Jackson Tour...

Edwin has much nicer luggage, though. Dude has made over $65 million during his travels.

Duffle bags > high priced luggage.

That's real baseball.

The Chad Gaudin MLB Tour was a lot less profitable...
