Cash is being excoriated for taking Snell out when he did.

He didn't want Snell to face any Dodger hitters for a third time.

But the top 4 in the Dodgers lineup were 0-8 with 7 K's.

Wow. Dave Roberts, of course, also raised a lot of eyebrows when he pulled Kershaw after retiring the first 2 batters of the inning, on 2 pitches.

These moves were pre-planned.

Is this analytics gone mad?

Snell is their best pitcher. He was dominating. They deserved to lose after pulling him after only 73 pitches.

2020 can’t get any worse.🤦*♂️ Two Los Angeles teams winning championships. I can’t wait to see the destruction in L.A . One of the worse years i could ever remember. Also with the passing of some historical baseball players and other stuff.

What do you have against LA?

The best team won. Plain and simple. It was the Dodger's year. They were the best team from beginning to end. Happy for Dave Roberts. Now , they have the challenge of keeping the team together and staying on top. Won't be easy to do.

Also, the guy Cash brought in to replace Snell, Nick Anderson, had given up runs in his last 6 appearances.

Make that 7.

Another wow.

That was the worst part of that move, you bring in a guy that's been worst recently! Why replace something good with something bad

You live or die with Snell. Period.

(That's why I never had an issue with leaving Pedro in that game.)

Agreed. Analytics cost them that game. Another reason why I hate analytics (even though it is my minor LOL)

Say what you want about Jess Mendoza, but she had a nice take this morning on ESPN about Analytics vs. Feel. Essentially what she said was, who cares about analytics when you can look out on the mound and see your ace mowing down the opposition?

To be fair, in Game 2 of this World Series, Snell was also cruising for 4.2 innings, and then failed to retire any of the next 4 hitters.

Pitchers can seem to be cruising sometimes and suddenly lose it.

I don't envy managers having to make those decisions.

The good ol' eye test.

It's definitely no easy call to make, but his pitch count was low and you have nothing to lose

I agree that you consider that move if he's at 90 pitches or so. If it's Charlie Morton or anyone not named Blake Snell, the move doesn't get criticized IMO.

Is that the pitcher "losing it" or the opposing hitters figuring something out?

Could be either, or some of both, right? A veritable spectrum of possibilities.

The hope for the Rays is to hold it here and get Jansen into the game.

It's hard to win a game when you only score one run. IMO, it was a matter of time before the Dodgers put some runs on the board.

Too tired.

Going to bed.

I hope to wake up to a Ray's miracle, but I doubt it.

To be honest, I didn't watch much of this game. I already had two shows recording (The Bachelorette and This Is Us). LOL Not that I would have been able to stay up for much of the game anyway.

We can complain about the Snell move all we want, but the Rays have scored 1 run, which is almost never enough.

Edit - Naturally Smoltz makes this point as I’m typing this.

It's a great point to make. ;)

1. Didn't want them to win, but the Dodgers are worthy champs.

2. Much better than Yankees winning.

3. We'll get our noses rubbed in it some more about Mookie, especially by the bozo writers, but that's the life of a sports fan.

Yes, yes, and yes. Although I didn't want the Rays to win either.

I am happy for Vin Scully, for Kershaw, and for Dave Roberts. Probably a few others, among whom is not Mookie.

They were the best team. Very tough to to beat all season.

I feel like that poor jilted bastard who lost his girl.

Oh Mookie. Yeh.. I guess I want you to be happy, but a big part of me wanted your world to be crushed.

Is it really that wrong to have wanted to see that once oh so adorable subtly freckled face to smash into a wall... missing horribly that catch... plinking off your now flailing glove, into the seats behind you. Scoring the winning run in game 7....

I'm not bitter ;) I just wanted him to suffer a humiliating loss. Feel that bitter pain... & come running back to me.

You can tell me. Is that really oh so bad? I know he's moved on. I get it. He's found somebody else. I know. I get it. Its not like he's the only guy out there? Yeh... I'm gonna start dating again.

Still... He would have looked great in a heap... Below that wall. Nursing a bloody nose, knowing he was never going to buy that ring. :'(
