Dave Roberts - nice player. Terrible manager. I think the sox are looking to get Cora back for next year, but it wouldn't surprise me (but it would annoy me) if Varitek wound up as manager there.

Can the Tampa Bay Rays actually sweep the Astros? Wow. I think so. It will certainly make me feel better about 2008. I don't think this Rays team is nearly as good as the 08 team, but with the 60 game sample size, it's hard to tell

This Rays team gives you NOTHING - very few mistakes, from the manager on down. You have to earn everything. And when YOU make a mistake, they jump on it. It's impressive to watch.

I pray for him. I hope it's not the dreaded yips. I recently went threw the yips in golf, and it's the worst feeling I've ever had in a sport, and this was on an infinitely smaller scale. I am currently reading Rick Ankiel's memoir on handling the yips. It has the capacity to end anybody's career, no matter how successful/promising. Great read if anybody is interested

I'll admit it - I haven't watched that much baseball this year. In fact, hardly any at all. But it seems to me like the Rays are a personification of the old mantra "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." And I am loving that, because I live my life by a similar code. It's like the Rays are the working class American that finally gets a big break
