This season is toast.

Depends if any Phillies test positive. It's discouraging, but we knew this would happen. You have to expect an outbreak. How this is handled in the next 24-48 hours will make or break the rest of the season for all 30 clubs. Cancelling the game is the right first step

Honest question:

What's the timeframe for a Phillies player testing positive if they came into contact with a Marlins player who had COVID?

I would think it would be the same window that we've been hearing since March, so like 2-7 days. Correct me if I'm wrong, Jacko. They should be getting tested today, and hopefully they know before playing the Yankees tonight or else that game will have to be cancelled to I'd imagine

Is transmission immediate? As in would you get a positive test if you ran into a COVID player yesterday?

Testing window for general public is 7-12 days right now, but I think the MLB players are getting tests back within 24 hours.

I'm not the one to ask about that, but the way I understand it, transmission is immediate, but it still takes time to show up, either in the form of symptoms, or in the form of a positive test

I wasn't specifically asking you. Was just hoping Jacko could read our comments and chime in when he gets the chance.

That would be my guess. With most viral diseases, there is an “incubation period” where the virus is replicating like mad in your body and the antibodies have not yet built up to full force to combat it.

What I have been wondering is why there is no dead virus vaccine like we use to combat the flu by kick starting antibody production so that your body is fully prepared once there is an actual infection..,.

I asked this on the other thread. Wouldn’t it be better to set up lockers in open air concourses instead of using locker rooms with recirculated air?

Absolutely it makes sense

Mean time to symptoms is 4-5 days, but can be as long as 2 weeks. Positive testing is dependent upon viral shedding which can be up to 2 weeks after exposure or more

Hot damn. Could test negative for 2 weeks.

I heard that the Yanks-Phillies game has been cancelled for a second night in a row, but I am not seeing confirmation of this on MLB site.

I watched that news break on Get Up this morning

Yankees were told the decision to postpone tonight’s game was based on abundance of caution. There was no indication given that any Phillies players had tested positive.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Marlins have had four more players test positive for COVID-19.

This brings the total to 17 individuals with the Marlins, including 15 players and two coaches. The Marlins remain in Philadelphia for the time being as the first two games of their series against the Orioles in Miami have been postponed. The hope is that the club will be able to resume play in Baltimore on Wednesday, but filling out a roster with major league-caliber talent could be a challenge, calling competitive integrity into question. It could also be irresponsible. The most important thing is the health of the players and anyone they might have come into contact with, but this is a nightmare scenario for the Marlins. And remember, we're not even a week into the season.

Wasn't that the purpose of the 60 man player pool though? If the Marlins can't replace the guys that went down, what are they doing with the other 30 guys in the pool?

I get that you have service time issues or whatever, but it was up to the team to make sure there were suitable replacements for the entire roster.

If the Marlins can't go, they need to forfeit.

I'll take wins for the Red Sox any way I can get them. But then the Orioles would be 6-1
