Very good chance we are seeing the last swings of Gardner as a Yankee starter. Frazier is hot and it’s his time. Tauchman is just better all around at this stage. When Judge returns to RF and Stanton to DH, I can see a platoon of Tauchman and Frazier in LF

Oh please, Yankee fans have thought they have seen the last of Gardner since 2015. They'll keep bringing him back. The man is going to die wearing pinstripes.

Boone is taking more heavy flak for his pitching moves. Today's beef was bringing in Avilan to replace Ottavino instead of Green - who hasn't pitched since Sunday.

I know that is the job of the press and a past time of the fanbase, but at some point Boone still knows more about the situation than anyone else. Maybe Green didn't feel like he had anything or maybe had a headache or his arm was a little sore? One has to think Boone knows who Green is, the type of season he is having, and how long since he has pitched. So he might actually have a very good reason for not using him...

I like to think Boone is a doofus, of course.

And a lot of us like to think we could manage an MLB better than the people who actually can do it. He might be a doofus among managers, but if I did it, they would have to create a whole new level for managerial incompetence to describe me. I would make Joe Kerrigan look like Terry Francona...

You almost have to be a masochist to want to be manager of the Yankees or Red Sox. It doesn't matter how well you do, you will be second-guessed and abused.

That goes for every manager. I heard Joe Maddon second-guessed (and did so myself, I admit) while he was winning a World Series for the Cubs for the first time since this country had more than 46 states in it...

And no wonder. Joe did almost lose it for them. :D

But he also got them there. The Cubs had not even been in the World Series since 1945 (when there was still only 48 states, if we're being consistent with that timeline)..

100%.

It is worth pointing out, in case it hasn't already been pointed out, that the Yankees are a mere .500 in games against teams not named the Red Sox. Their pitching has not been great. They are not the juggernaut that Yankees fans like to think that they are.

Plus their injuries are ridiculous. Yankee fans are beside themselves trying to understand why.

Crack medical staff?

Seriously though, the number of injuries that they have had the past couple of years is crazy.

The Yankees were disturbed about all of the injuries they had last year , so they brought in a new training and conditioning crew this year . That is working out really well .

That's mostly due to going 1-6 against the Rays. Majority of those games were tied or within a run late in the game, but the Yanks found ways to botch winnable games (as opposed to last season when they seemingly won every close game against the Rays). Obviously the injuries don't help, and the lack of a clear #2 behind Cole is something they'll need to address, but I think they're in as good of a position to win the WS as any team (outside of the dodgers, and assuming they're mostly healthy by playoffs which seems iffy given how this season has played out so far).

It's interesting that the Yankees have played 14 of their 25 games against the Rays and the Sox.

The Yankees will make the playoffs. Once there, anything can happen. So yes, they have as good a chance as any other team to win it all.

Let me add that while the Yankees have as good a chance as any other team to win the WS, they are far from being the best team in baseball.

{Didn't want to come across as being too magnanimous.} ;)

With Paxton not right and now on the shelf, the Yanks are looking hard at starters (shocking). The crazy thing is, they arent using the top prospects sitting in the alternative camp! Schmidt, Garcia, or Gil. The first two are big league ready, the last one maybe a year away. But the lack of willingness to use these guys is absolutely puzzling to me. No point in throwing JA Crap out there. I have no issue using JMont behind Cole and Tanaka, but we have to start using the kids. If we do not add a starter, I would want to see Schmidt come up, Loaisiga get a long look as the 4 and roll that way

Geez the Yanks look super rusty. This rookie is leaving tons of pitches over the plate but our lineup hasn't even been able to muster a hit or even a hard hit ball. At this point I'm just hoping we don't get no-hit.

Aaron Judge got hurt again? This guy makes Nick Johnson look like Cal Ripken.

Maybe it's time for the Yankees to be merciful and simply have him put to sleep. He's too big to flush..

Traditionally, big-boned football-physique Yankee specimens named Judge and Stanton always break down by age 28, especially the year before first-time arbitration eligibility.

There was a Joe Judge who played until he was 40, mostly for Washington, and finished his career in Boston. But he flew under the goal posts at 5'8, 155.

The last Mike Stanton who Yankee fans actually liked was the lefty set-up man who pitched over a thousand games and won three rings. He pushed gravity limits at 6'1, but eight teams took a chance on him, including the Red Sox twice...

The real problem with this organization continues to be Brian Cashman but Hal can't figure that out. Cashman has been the Yankees GM for too long--it is time to move on and get a fresh perspective.
