Dodgers have to be the team .

The Red Sox would save less than $6 million for luxury tax purposes with Corey Seager's 2020 salary of $7.6 million and A.J. Pollock's AAV of $13.75 million.

The Sox can do better.

If Betts goes to the Dodgers, the package is likely to underwhelm with names like Ruiz, Gonsolin and Joc Pederson. That move saves the Sox about $20 mill towards the cap...

I’d rather prospects than 2 years of Seager at 2b if the goal is to get under lux tax.

Ahh I know that ....just like Seagar .Verdugo ,Ruiz and Joc are likely the base of this trade .Seagar is a player I’ve always wanted to play here .

Seager will make about $7mill this year and the Dodgers will need a SS. The Red Sox won't. And Seager is a better defender than the incumbent Bogaerts. Makes very little sense for both the Sox and Seager.

They'll want to send some money back. Pederson also earns about $7mill, but won't have a place to play in LA if they have Bellinger-Pollock-Betts. I also figure Ruiz to be expendable since Will Smith appears to have a stranglehold on the catcher role. So I think the Dodgers would be amenable to those two plus Gonsolin, who they could use but is pretty far down on their starter depth chart.

And most important to the Dodgers, they keep Lux and May. I'd love to get Verdugo back, but they probably prefer to keep him because 1) Betts has only one year left and 2) AJ Pollock is not the most reliable outfielder. But if Bloom can get Verdugo over any of the three names I mentioned - especially Ruiz, who appears to be losing some luster - I hope he pulls that off...

I'd think LA would want to pair 25-year-old Seager at short with the rookie Lux at second. Betts would obviously make Pederson or Verdugo expendable, but Joc's one I've always wanted to keep out of Fenway.

Verdugo and pitching prospects please... whelm me.

So if LA offered Verdugo, Tony Gonsolin and Connor Wong, do you send the future Hall of Famer to the Left Coast?

It’s a tough sell without a May or Lux .I personally want Lux but most will want the power arm .They are loaded Notin who do you want is the question .

Notin what if you moved seager to Second ? Then traded Chavis ? We have the no bat utility guy from Cincy already and maybe a platoon of Dalby and Mitch would be an option ?This is also assuming one of Evoldi or Price may get dealt.Devers ,Xander ,Seager,Mitch is a pretty formidable infield .

I don't -- I started the Pay Mookie! thread... but when Buster Onley was asked to rank whether LA winds up with Betts -- from 1 to 10 -- he said, "8.5".

Substitute Gray for Wong; we really need pitching with promise.

According to the trade simulator, that would be an overpay for the Los Angeles Dodgers but that's what it might take.

Or not.

To me, this deal makes sense:

Betts, Eovaldi & Workman

for

Pollock, Gonsolin, Stripling & Cartaya

In reality, we may get this, at best:

Betts for Gonsolin, Stripling & Cartaya

(The trade simulator accepted both deals.)

Not saying I like this deal, but the site accepted this one, too:

Betts, Barnes, Workman & Duran

for

May, Gonsolin & Cartaya

I don’t think Los Doyers want Eovaldi.

Add Joc to this and I think I could live with May and Joc as immediate impact players .Yeah I don’t hate this with Joc.I don’t think we need to add Barnes to this deal or Workman what about Duran and Marco ?

Of course, they don't, but taking Eovaldi lessens what they have to give back, and Betts gives them like 6 OF'ers, so the contract swap of Eovaldi for Pollock makes sense to both teams.

Joc is a glorified platoon player with one year of team control.

If we ask for more, why a 1 year and done guy? This trade gives up on 2020, so Joc is useless.

They are so hungry and really need Some good news out there .I am not saying this to take advantage no but maximize on a once in a generation RF like Mookie .I try and shoot the moon but we need power arms like May no doubt .Players like Joc should not be shunned he’s a real talent and I’m a huge fan .I need Two impact MLB players for 2020 and two up and comers preferably arms .we will see very shortly .I am ready to move on and am excited for what the future players will bring .Like always you and Moon have framed a realistic trades.

Lux is out. If Lux was on the table, Lindor would be a Dodger...

Pederson would likely be included solely to offset some cash. Like how the Mariners took back Bruce and Swarzak last year...

Yes, but why would we ask/demand he be part of the deal, especially if we have POllock as part of the deal.

Adding Joc makes us nit get under the lux tax.

Was not aware he only had a year .

Oh I think LA will insist on his inclusion.

The only advantage to getting him is he can handle CF somewhat if the Sox deal Bradley to get under.

The only way I take back Pollock is if I get to unload Price...

I do not think hang’em Chaim is really interested in moving Betts.

My guess is he listens when people call, but would be content with (at best) a July deal or (at worst) a draft pick, if our pitching is living up to their paychecks!
