Not to worry, I see Clay Buchholz taking Porcello's place. :D

Lmao! His shiny ERA of 6.56 would be a fantastic add to the team.

Most of us would, the other Boston Sox page I am on they all wanted him back at that price too. But to each their own. Sucks losing a reliable pitcher (even though he wasn't great last season) Whos to say Syndergaard will be any better.

Porcello is reliable at giving up homeruns and being inconsistent. That's about it

Every Mets season ticket holder, who has seats in the outfield should be so excited.

Because if Porcello, there are going to be catching tons of baseballs next season, all off the bats of hitters facing Porcello, aka the meatball king!!!!!!

I'm glad Porcello was a member of this team. Great teammate, solid inning eater, and was huge on a world series team. Wish him the best in New York.

Never understood the Porcello hate.

The consistent innings and durability, the Cy Young year, and the championship he helped win were easily worth his contract, IMO. Thank you and best of luck, Rick. Hope you bounce back nicely with the Mets and earn another nice payday next winter.

i think the manfred missile hurt him bigly. i wish him well in Queens. will probably go see one of his starts this coming season.

You're an idiot.

Because at the time of his deal he got big money and aside from his cy young season he didnt deliver

He also delivered in 2018, including the postseason. He helped get that ring.

Well, one must remember the history of RS fans. Among those booed and hated: Ted Williams, Boggs, Clemons, Jim Rice, Buckner of course, even Ortiz during his down year. You could field a pretty good team w/ those fans and sports-writers wanted to run out of town.

Rick is solid, but man when he gets smack around he really gets wreck.

Yup, that's true and especially since he went away from the two seam fastball he wasn't very effective this season..... But he usually follows a bad season with a good season so if that is any indicator he should be decent this year. Also there will be no idiots on the Mets telling him not to use the 2 seam. It sucks losing him especially when Sale, Price and Evo are up in the air with injuries and usually fizzle out half way into the season.

When were Rice and Boggs extensively booed?

Buckner was beloved when he returned in 1990.

Rice and Boggs? They were trashed almost daily on the sports reports I saw toward the end of their Boston careers (This was of course before the ubiquitous talk radio, but I can recall specific phrases criticizing Rice for "dogging it" and a fan lamenting: "We're NEVER going to get to see Cecil Cooper!" [do I have the name right?]). Buckner beloved? That's not the version of the story he tells, having been forced to move away from Boston to protect his kids. I don't recall any negative press for Yaz, except for (was it Montgomery?) criticizing him for trying to pull the ball too much when he was unable to get to the fastball at age 85 or so. Of course, there was THE pop-up ...

Ignore the haters.

I'll beback to quote a lot of these guys when we get a guy that might suck and get hurt half way through the year. I hope Porcello lights it up for the Mets.

Anyway with saying that I justhope Sale, Price and Evo return to form.
