Johnson kills this team. Put team in the hole right away. He's a Triple AAA pitcher, who once in a while you might need a start. (Preferably for another team), I'm sure we'll get a Post where Johnson did ok after the 1st. Pitched 3 innings, and lucky 1 out was a Great Defensive play.

Machado has found the perfect team for him. He fits right in here. Iggy fits right in at the Reds. Nice to see guys find a comfy home for themselves.

9th inning. Last chance. Offense hasn’t done their part today. Then again haven’t been watching. Just on gameday

OTOH, why don't pitchers throw that low outside pitch to JD more often? Are they just stupid?

They are just not good enough to get to that pitch and if they get to it, more often than not they can't hit the spot.

So, can't get to it, meaning trying to get the count to 2 strikes they are bound to throw some suck ass pitch that JD just eats alive before they can get to the low and outside pitch....weak cheese is what JD mostly feeds on earlier in counts. Then there are the guys that just can't help but throw a Slider right over the heart and JD eats that stuff up too.

As bad as I have seen MLB pitching, expansion years, what have you, this is the worst MLB pitching across all pitchers all teams I have seen in my entire life and I am old as dirt!

Typical of the season where the Red Sox are among runs scored leaders in MLB. But, although outscoring SD 17-7 in the series they fail to take the game that would have tightened the WC race in a lackluster effort on a Sunday afternoon.

So I could be wrong but since the Sox just went 500 for the month at 11-11, I think they are now 11-12 for August. Some run these guys are on. Thats going to get them past nobody....gonna' get them to making their tee times.

They have to know the offense has to show up every day. We are starting Nate, Porcello, BJ and our star, ERod. We are lucky to get two decent starts out of that bunch. This is why they are unable to go on a run. Eventually we run into a game where the offense does not show and the starting pitching really never shows up outside of Erod.

That combination means you are going to win 3-4 at best or 3-5. That would be fine from the start of the season till now but trying to catch up.....not gonna' work.

This Padres team is awful. They were trying to give us the game all game long and we would not take it.

Once you believe the shiip has sailed, you no longer get worked up about a loss like this. The mathematics will catch up with us eventually, even though TB is struggling now and the A's aren't a powerful team. We still have to lose 7 less than them and Cleveland to qualify. Not likely so chill out.

The SOX go from SD to Colorado and then back to LA. Why does it seem that everything about MLB lately is f***ed up?

At least the Red Sox get a day off before and after the two-game series in Colorado.

The Yankees play tonight in Los Angeles before flying to Seattle for a three-game series that starts on Monday. FWIW, Denver is closer to San Diego than Seattle is to Los Angeles.

BTW the Mariners have won four straight series, the last three against AL East clubs, including two road series.

Blame another loss on the pen...

Err.....

I mean.....

the Pen has been fine for the most part all year. kind of tough when you are constantly brought in to the game in the 4th or 5th inning already down 5......

The Yankees picked up one productive bat after another this year to offset their injuries.

We got Chris Owings.

...and Andrew Cashner on the other side.

We left $3-4M on the table.
