Rays lose....but it won't matter.

86 wins is what I predicted months ago. I am sticking with it. Had the team not had such an awful start we would be right there where we want to be.

How can you say that when our starting rotation is such a shambles, as you have already said yourself many times???

This was a bad matchup from the start. Porcello has been a Juggs machine and the twins have hit the most homers ever in a season and there’s still 26 days left in the final month. You’ve got 12 more games against potential playoff teams, 2 vs the twins, 4 vs NYY 4 vs Rays, and 2 vs the Phils. This is a gauntlet for a team leading a WC race. It’s a deathknell for a team 5.5 back

Last night was a classic game in terms of this season. The lineup wasn't great, but did score 5 runs including dingers by Devers and Benintendi. But Porcello was determined to keep those pitches up and hittable with the inevitable result--6 runs in 4 innings.

DD invested heavily in the rotation--over $90M this year (and not including Sale's new contract starting next year)--and it has come a cropper (except for ERod, who is having his best year).

To be fair, DD had nothing to do with Porcello's contract (other than trading him to us LOL).

As of Wesmesday AM

4 September

MINN-----86-52

CLEVE----80-59

TBAY-----82-59

OAK------79-58

SOX------74-64

Esited by 2 olf, fussy, ladies.

Admittedly, had I been managing this team I would have made more mistakes than Cora! Whicj doesn’t prevent me ftom adding 2 more mo Add Purce;;o to the one or two innings gang, and leave the lineup alone.

Benny-Jackie-Moolie-Devors-Bogie-Moreland-Vasquez and JD (DH)

From here on. Most games are going to be “multi-pitcher” affairs. For the Sox, onx, only Erod should be scheduled for 4 innings.. (And put on a 4-day schedule) instead of 5)

We won't have to worry about that. The rotation outside of E-Rod can't go any longer than 4 anyway lol.

There has been a lot said about how bad the pitching has been , while the offense has done very well . And rightly so. But one thing that has been missing is the failure of the offense to rally late and pull games out . I don't know what the numbers are , but our record when trailing after six or seven innings must be terrible.

We are right on course for 86 wins despite our crappy rotation. Despite that fact the pen has been OK and the offense has been pretty good. I don't think I will be off by more than a game or two at the most.

It's gotten to be a habit: lead-off double , guy gets to 3rd after 2 outs. Here comes the 3rd out. Man lift on 3rd (again)/

I watched until the bitter end last night and found it soul-crushing.

However, tonight is ERod night, and I'm excited for his Quest For 20 Wins.

3-51 when trailing after 7

be interesting to see that record from 2018 campaign.

Also interesting to see the same stat for other teams this year.

Not sure where to find the data.

LOL yes, he should be proud.

Actually, I am proud for foreseeing the future of this team months ago. While others were mostly irrationally optimistic I saw a team that was going nowhere for many reasons: SPing, not being ready to start the season, playing brain dead baseball too often, managerial mistakes...etc. I am proud of being a realist and seeing that my assessment of this team was correct.

Get your Tickets, the Bus will be rolling tonight. Rally Caps, keep them on. Down 6-0 they came back that shows me a lot. Didn't win it, but didn't quit. Edited by OH FOY!

At this point my Indianapolis Colts have a better chance at making playoffs than the Sox do lol.

You had lots of company, actually.

Most prognostications I saw here were in the 90+ win area about two months ago.

I think if you look at the game threads two months ago, like right after the Yankees bombed us in London, you'll see a lot of negativity. The game threads are the easiest place to find negativity, of course. You can also look at moon's Realistic thread around that time. I'll take a look myself if I get a chance.

Anyway it doesn't really matter of course. This season is what it is - disappointing from start to finish.

I was hoping they would yank ERod agter 5. Re-schedule him for a 3 day routine. (Gell Spahn and Sain did it for the entitr year.) Well, Bickford did royal duty also, I think) We haven't seen Wever yet in this bullpen parade. Maybe he doesn't throw hard enough (91) and throws too many strikes. We'll see.

I think Eovaldi blew out his arm for the Sox in 2018. I'm excited for E-Rod to get 20+ wins, but I mainly want him ready to go for 2020.

I had the same thought, but people corrected me to say his loose bodies in his elbow happened in Spring Training and then his sustained a further injury during rehap. The guy still can hit 100 mph on the radar gun but his command hasn't been good. I believe we will need to shed payroll going into next season and he may be someone we can trade away, particularly if he has a strong showing during the next few weeks.

Sorry to correct you again, but Eovaldi's 'loose bodies' were actually not discovered until after he made his 4th start of the season on April 17.
