Well we won last night. So the Sox get the extra burden of having Jung wrapped around their axle again.

I don't think the Sox have announced a starter, ah' make that an Opener yet. Guardians have Shane Bieber going. Might not matter who or what we cobble together to try to get to 9 innings in that case.

Remember, 1:00pm start time today.

Isn't it Brian Johnson's regular day to pitch a few and give up a few?

I think so. This whole "Opener" thing is such a THING that you can imagine Managers viewing it a million different ways.

Cora I guess wanted to start Nate today if he thought he could. Did Nate pitch so much last night that he could not pitch in for an inning today....could it be the 1st inning? Who the f*** knows. I hate the opener thing for what it says about MLB pitching.

I like Slasher's line....makes me feel icky at least.

Actually now that I think about it Cora commented a couple days ago that he would want Nate to go 55 pitches in a start. He is not going to get 55 out of him today. So it must be BJ.

Used to be let's get 9 innings, then it became can we get 6 or 7 and 100 is the pitch count? Then it became a good 5...now it's can you go 50 pitches? forget innings, it's now down to low, and lower pitch counts for guys who don't know what to do anymore because you can't stretch them out.

Brian Johnson is pitching but it will likely be a bullpen day with Eovaldi going possibly 3 innings or more if he looks good.

If we were in the National League we would legit be within a game of a playoff spot. Crazy how different the American League is compared to the Nationaly League.

If the SOX were in the NL, JD would have to play defense in most every game. I doubt he could physically endure that.

And here's the line-up Justin Bieber will be facing today:

Betts

Devers

X-man

JD

Beni

Yosemite Sam

Marco

VAZ

Grasshopper

wait..what? no mandatory "rest day" for any of our 24 year olds???? wtf WTF?

The AL is far more top heavy. The NL is essentially the Dodgers and the field

Alex is applying the heat in search of a 2 game win streak. He heard something about the Mets making a move in the nL and figured he'd try it too.

Truth. Porcello would get to bat though, he likes to hit dingers :)

Cubs could be a threat, they have some pretty solid pitching but yes I agree. Dodgers seem to own everyone the last couple years.

Maybe Porcello should pull a Babe Ruth and reinvent himself as an everyday player. At this point he may be a better hitter than he is a pitcher.

The Kershaw era in LA has been nothing but fool's gold in the post season. Perhaps the greatest reg season pitcher that ever lived.

Sounds kinda funny but, oh so true.

I thought, for sure, Devers would get the day off, after all, 6 hits is so tiring!

Imho, greatest pitchers I've ever seen over a long period of time would be Sandy Koufax(LH) and Bob Gibson (RH). Neither had problems in the post season.

Btw, I don't remember having seen any pitcher who had two consecutive years (1999 & 2000) as great as Pedro had.

Martinez had the best change up I have ever seen.. but compare Schilling's post season stats to some of these other guys. Its a crime that he isn't in the Hall of fame. The best strikeout to walk ratio in MLB history is the icing on the cake.

This isn't praise, just a fact. The only player on the SOX who should be protected from any trade talks is Devers.

I would say Rafi and X. Mookie frittered away his leadership role on this team this year. Not sure he ever really cared about it. JD never had it though the media tried to give it to him.

X is now the leader of this team. It sure as heck ain't Pedey and I can't think of anybody else it would be.

Plus we have to come to terms with the knowledge that Rafi had not learned very much about fielding at the ML lever in 2017 or 2018 and was as goofy footed starting the 2019 campaign as he was in 2018. X took over the role of mentoring and tutelage and Presto chango...Rafi the ML fielder.

Naked eye said out.

Tito does not do much challenging. Saves it for later in the game if he really needs it.

If Farrell were managing the Guardians he would not have even waited for the video. "Challenge, challenge, challenge goddamit."
