Nope. He let up 6 runs once. That was the most he let up that year.

His next highest was 4 (only once).

29 starts: 27 with 3 or less ERs allowed!

I believe 7 shutouts and 3 or 4 0-1 losses.

JBJ, don't lose your bat; no, that ain't it. JBJ, don't lose your glove; no, that ain't it. JBJ, don't lose those compromising pictures of John Henry; yup, that's it. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

Wow. When my older one was in junior high and high school, I made the trip to the high school a lot. Football and wrestling mostly. Still go over for the wrestling tournament in January.
That is a good tournament. My son played baseball & basketball, no wrestling or football.

Same year Gibson recorded that 1.12 ERA. He also was never taken out of a game during an inning. Still boggles my mind that he lost 9 games with that season.

The next year they lowered the mound from 15 inches to 10.

That was the year of the pitcher. Yaz led the AL in hitting slightly over .300. Danny Cater finished 2nd at .297.

What University?

Presumably the State University of New York at Geneseo (not Geneseo, Illinois).

I grew up in Muscatine and occasionally stay with my sister who lives in Rock Island on the border with Moline. I ran the Quad Cities Marathon in 2013 but last fall ran only the QCM 5K (just shy of my 63rd birthday). Modern Woodman Park remains my favorite minor league stadium.

Yep. Yaz hit .301. Cater actually hit .290. IIRC, there were 4-5 guys in the NL over .300. I think it was the worst offensive season of the live ball era.

I wonder why Toronto didn't trade Freddie Galvis at the deadline. They could have got something for him. Instead, they place him on waivers and lose him for nothing. He is having a good year for a SS.

The mound was about 6 feet high back then. Gibson could really bring it.

Hernandez is going to find himself back in Pawtucket if he doesn't start throwing strikes.

This is the DHern experience

At least the River Bandits are playing actual home games now. Through the first 1/3 of the season, they had been in Modern Woodman for a total of 2 games due to the Mississippi River flood (it was in flood stage from late March until early June).
