You're gonna have a hell of a time winning the division. We play you 4 times in 3 days and if you don't sweep those game, you aren't gonna sniff the division. We play 11 games in 10 gays vs the O's and Jays after the sox series. While we are literally dealing with near auto wins, you'll have the auto-win Royals then have to play the Angels and @CLE before killing the Orioles.

The sox lack a true long run of sucky opponents like we are about to jump into. We both go to the west coast at the same time then you come home to the Twins and Yanks for 7 games. We all know the history of the sox on the left coast. The you finish the year bookending some tough play with 3 at Toronto and 3 home vs Baltimore (auto wins), but inbetween you'll play at PHI, home vs SF, @TB and @TEX.

There is.0002 chance to win the division.. There is a fair chance of getting in to the playoffs.

I wouldn't say "fair." We are 8 games down in the loss column to the A's, and they have a damn good team that is not likely to collapse. A collapse is needed from 2 teams at the same time, plus we have to play better than we have in any 31 game stretch we have had all year, starting now.

I'd say the chance are much close to nil than "fair."

I'm not trying to burst anyone's bubble. I've been the last one on the bandwagon a few years in my past, but I just don't see it this year. We had a shot and got double swept when the season was on the line. Not winning just one game when everyone knew "this is it" told me all I needed to know.

I still love this team, and I will watch every game to the end, but I have lost all faith.

I'm liking what I'm seeing from a few kids and several vets. I'm looking forward to the September call-ups and learning what our winter plan will be. I'm not looking forward to the Sox-less playoffs.

Enjoy it . Should be a nice night and a good game .

It was an awesome game. Pitchers duel 13 inning game that sent the Mets faithful home sad. The weather was perfect

Still time left. A's have to make up 3 games, that's huge. Less time off. more travel, and they have to win it to stay 8 up in loss column.

A's have just 2 days off the rest of season in 34 games, they will be playing almost everyday. That puts a lot of strain on a Pitching staff.

Brian Johnson is a f***ing joke......0-3 after first three batters, walks the next....

He needs to f***ing go away for 2020. What the hell is wrong with our minor league development for pitchers?

You do, you always write in some good stats on him and say he belongs on Major League Team. True? Edited by OH FOY!

Ya. I know.. he's frustrating.. but how long ago was that the situation with ERod? "What's he doing here? Can't throw strikes, trade the bum, release him, whatever". Sometimes patience is a virtue.

Brian Johnson turns 29 years old in December.

E Rod saved my TV viewing during 2015 season. I watched him pitch every start on TV. I'm not sure Johnson and E Rod are in the same zip code.

So when (I'm going with "when" here) make the WC game, who should be the SP? And then who takes Game 1 of the ALDS?
Posted
Well if making the WC game comes down to the final couple of games of the season, you may have already burned E-Rod/Price just trying to advance. So you could be forced to go with Porcello or a bullpen type game with Nate/Cashner/everyone else. But if available, I'd assume E-Rod & Price are the top two starters for you guys.

Obviously every win helps.

But while the Sox shouldn't look ahead, it's ok for fans to do so. And the Sox have a 4 game series in Tampa that is ultimately the most important series left in the season. The best way to ensure gaining ground is winning head-to-head games...

You’re at the point of the season where every game is important. And while the rays are ahead of you, they’re currently out of the playoffs too. You’ve got 28 games left and you need to lose 6 less than the A’s to take the WC. The A’s have 29 games left. If the A’s go 15-14, the Sox would need to go 20-8 just to tie them. With the A’s ridiculously easy schedule after the three in NYY starting tonight, it’s hard to imagine they don’t win the majority of their remaining games. Realistically, the Sox May need to go 22-6 to tie and that might not be enough

The 4 games series with the Yankees next weekend could be a well defining series in the Red Sox season. If the Red Sox are swept again their chances to make this year postseason is slim to none.

I don't think anyone has any illusions about catching the Yankees . The new goal has to be getting the second wild card and taking our chances from there . The games with the Yankees are no more or no less important than the other games , with the exception of the series with the Rays .
