When batting, how is it that catchers do not pick up the spin on a breaking ball when it's out of the pitchers hand. Vaz chases the same unhittable pitch twice.

Something about Houston pitchers brings out the worst in this team.

Valdez should be sent down immediately. Not even allowed to shower. Disrobed and sent down. First for walking JBJ and then allowing him to 2nd.....wait....3rd!

As many strange series as these two teams have played against each other, this one takes the cake.

Great extra run pickup from the bottom of the lineup. It continues to make a huge difference when 7-8-9 contribute.

If successful today, Walden will have pitched 50% more innings than Matt Barnes, never lost a game, credited with 6 wins, has a better stat line.

The Red Sox have had some very good luck against Verlander over the years, beating him in games where he pitched well.

JBJ was involved in 2 runs without the benefit of a hit. That's productive, without the stats. Its all about runs.

Big win. Plus in retrospect all 3 games were close.

We outscored them in the series.

Just got back from the game.

Devers had a nice homer to CF.

ERod got the job done, even though it looked like he wasn't at his best.

The play Nunez made to home sucked. It looked like he took his time and then threw poorly. Also, has Vaz ever held onto a throw to the plate this year? I'm sure he has, but all I remember are his drops. (Nice pick off at 1B, later.)

Pearce hit the ball hard a few times but only had one hit.

Niced to see Barnes bounce back.

Good win.

E-rod vs Verlander

In the words of John Lennon "all we are saying is give Pearce a chance."

Copied from the end of last night's game thread:

Verlander vs ERod today should be interesting. The Yanks go with German vs the only real pitcher the Royals have in Duffy. The Rays throw an opener against Bauer. It’s at least lining up on paper to be a good day for the Bombers!

It's a funny old game, Jacks.

Good win and very good 6 innings by E-rod. Having a rookie catcher catching Verlander helped the SOX. As did Houston having their two best hitters absent, but that's the way the ball bounces. Hopefully, WTF CORA allows Devers to remain in the 3rd spot. Sox still missing a lead-off batter. Lastly, it was encouraging to see Pearce hit the ball hard today.

Good job going to all 3 games.
