He just doesn't seem injured to me...... Generally (not all the time, but generally) a player with a back injury you will catch a glimps on their face or something showing they are in pain. Having back pain and swinging the bat like JD does is not pleasant. I don't know how he could hide that each and every at bat. Same speculation as Sale with some thinking it's an injury but in my opinion Martinez just sucks right now.

You may well be right and he is just slumping . In that case trade or DFA him now while he has some residual value ( joke, sarcasm, lol). He will be back, so to speak.

The only everyday player on the A's worth a s*** is Chapman.

I like Khris Davis. Matt Olson is pretty good. Semien is decent enough. Piscotty is fine, I guess.

May be sarcasm but in reality it doesn't take long for a player to lose value. Not saying he has already lost value but generally a full season of a player sucking can hurt them when looking for a new team or being traded. Regardless, he will get it together at some point..... One would think.

As for Chavis playing 2nd base, does anyone here remember Steve Sax and Knoblock? At least Chavis doesn't have a phobia about throwing the ball to 1st.

Lmao he was before my day but my dad said he remembered him having a ridiculous amount of errors in one year. My dad always talked about him and said he was allergic to throw to first lol.

It won't last for long but for all the trashing and sweeping of the A's this week, their record is 14-18, about to be 14-19. The Sox are at 13-17, about to be 14-17, putting the A's in the rear view mirror for the next 5 months.

With this win we will be on our way to .500, then much better , with the White Sox (12-14) for 4 and Orioles(10-20) for 3 coming up on the road.

His experience might not be worth a darn to you, but his performance is proving to me that he's ready.

Also, they changed the rules so that you can't get wiped out at 2b anymore. Even when it does happen, great players like Pedey can get injured through no fault of their own. I don't see how Chavis would be more likely to be injured.

You frankly try to "I told you so" the board more than enough anyway.

You can get wiped out if you turn right into the runner which is about what Chavis did the other day when he launched the ball into the loge seats. Anybody who thinks these rules protect players needs to think again. They just allow goofy footers a stay of execution......sometimes.

Play Chavis at first. Since when is Pearce not expendable. Christ, some time on the bench would do Pearce some good. They can bring a Sports Phycology Therapist right to the bench. "Look at the spinning pocket watch Steve. You ARE a hitter.....You ARE a hitter"

Btw, do you know why Sax and Knoblock were playing 2nd, even with their errors? Because they could hit. Why is Devers playing 3rd? Because he can hit.

Pearce has made himself highly expendable ( and expensive, not his fault) . He could be very vulnerable once one of the numerous IL 2Bmen do return, or if Lin picks it up by default. One thing to note about Chavis at first is that Moreland vs RH'ers would get the most reps , delaying MC's development . But history tells us MM would be unlikely to play a full season injury free.

I think Chavis could eventually be at 1b. There is concern that he's too small for the position, but IDK.

Note to JBJr and others. Be like Christian V. Hit the first strike you see very hard and watch it go far away. Great swing by Vaz on a really Dull pitcher

Chapman robs 3 kids of a possible foul ball souvenir. The kids should have bit his arm or dumped cotton candy on his face

One last thing about Chavis. Most of April a lot of posters here, including myself, were complaining about the SOX lack of offense. Chavis already has 4 dingers and now some posters are complaining about his 2nd base play.

Vazquez's 5th HR of the season ties a career high. Only 131 games left to set a new one.
