No. I miss Severino, Hicks, Didi, Stanton, Andujar, Betances, Montgomery, and CC.

I should have made it clear this isn't about the Yankees right now, but just a general question about the two managers. I don't follow the team close enough, but my feeling is they might be both similar, and not in a good way?

I don't understand why people hate Boone so much. Compared to Girardi, he's not that much different. Girardi wasn't perfect either. Y'all are treating him like the second coming of Jesus.

Boone has been taking a lot of heat on the Yankee forum I check out. But none of them say they want Girardi back. None of them seem to be big Torre fans, for that matter. Baseball fans are brutal toward their managers, generally speaking.

A lot of the Yankee fans say that Cashman hired the novice Boone because he wanted someone he could control.

I thought Girardi was the right guy to try to deliver veterans to a title. He was initially billed as a good groomer of talent, but he became so veteran dependent that we needed a change of direction to foster our youth movement which started under his direction. Boone is the better fit for a younger team because he has much more patience than girardi did. The problem with Boone is that he doesn’t have much urgency at all and seems to play the game from two different avenues based on whether he is winning or losing, which I get to a degree. My issue with him is that he doesn’t seem to understand that, provided full health, this team should be managed as if we are winning when trailing by a run. Instead, he goes all 12th man in the pen when we face any deficit

And that's a serious, serious issue. Boone's lack of urgency may have cost you one of the games in last year's LDS. And he doesn't seem to have changed that approach at all. You have to wonder what Cash and Hal are thinking of his performance.

But with all the injuries it gets harder to evaluate.

Right now it’s irrelevant as he’s pulling a player a game with injuries. But you’re right. If he pulled Sevy in game 3 when we were down 3, things may have been different (although probably not as we were not hitting Eo that day).

he won 100 games last year. he aint going anywhere this season.

and this season he already has a built in excuse for the poor start....the IL is full of names we know, the lineup is full of names we dont.

he will get a "free pass" this season and be back in 2020.

the above is all great news for Red Sox fans.

You can find people complaining about most managers on any forum regardless of heir success. At some point, people here might even complain about Cora. I’ve seen posters complain about Francona/Francoma during the World Series...

Hah, you obviously steer clear of the game threads. Smart move.

Why ruin a good Sox game with a trip to the game thread?

Yeah I’m not a big participant in them. Guess my point is proven.

It’s amazing to me that, according to the ever reliable Internet, the only people who don’t know how to manage an MLB team are the MLB managers...

Well, there's a point to be made. The nights I steer clear of this place during games are some of my happier nights

I think Boone will be a very good manager, just not now.

He needed a year or two as a bench coach and then give him the big job, exactly like Cora

Sounds like we need a Game Thread Dischord for approved posters.

You could stand on the corner and hand out $5 bills and eventually someone will complain that you gave it to them face down instead of face up.

Seriously. A decent amount of people wanted him fired after opening day last year lol..

Boone manages the bullpen very well. Granted we have a stacked bullpen. Everyone's innings are pretty similar right now, i know its april7th. The only thing I hated was Tauchman. I know thats a Cashman move, and I love Cashman... at the same time why would we go with him over Clint? Did Clint sleep with someone's wife or daughter? I don't understand why a lot of people dislike him. Cause he thinks hes good and wanted to wear 7? LOL GTFO. Clint is still young and I think he is going to play a big role in the Yankees from now on out. When Hicks comes back you can not start Gardner on a regular schedule. I also love Gardner, and I understand why he's back. You need a veteran around to help all these young guys.

Tauchman was traded for to be our fourth OFer. Cashman has said with Frazier missing so much time that he needed consistent at bats. Once Stanton went down, Frazier was called up and has gotten consistent at bats. With that logic, I don’t have a problem with it. I don’t want Frazier to be the 4th OFer. He’s got the skills to start and in most organizations, he would have been starting for two years now. He seems ready now. I know it’s easy to say that after he goes 6 for his last 8 with 3 bombs, but he’s no longer an auto out with breaking pitches away. With how quick his hands are, all he needed was work on pitch recognition. If he’s there now, he’s gonna be a monster

If Frazier continues to show good at bats (he’s clearly not going to hit at this pace) then I agree on the Gardner front. Where I’d agree more to start is getting Stanton back into the DH role and then when Hicks comes back, relegate Gardner to the fourth OFer role and have Frazier start with regularity

Everything Booney does backfires. In Game One of this series he pulls the cruising Tanaka after 78 pitches and the pen coughs it up. Last night he leaves the struggling Paxton in for 95 pitches and 5 runs.
