Two observations on the Yankees : 1 - They need to get Judge , Stanton , Betances and Severino back soon . The B Team has overachieved and carried them this far , but it is starting to let down and their success cannot be maintained . 2 - They missed the boat on Keuchel . Their rotation is their Achilles heel , and it has been for a while now . Without improvement , it will again be their downfall. You are welcome.

Our staff is third in the AL in ERA, so the rotation is not a heel of any sort. Our offense has gone to s*** lately and the vaunted pen has been anything but the last 6 games

It might be the Red Sox and the Yankees in the Wild Card game this year. (Someone had to say it.) Or it might be the Yankees and the Tribe.

It is time to move on from Morales. Logan Morrison has his power stroke back and is OPS'ing above .900 in AAA. He cannot be worse than the slowest man in the league in Morales

So we gut out the win when our pen allows 6 runs after giving up nothing through the opener and follower through 5. I will take the win. Tanaka tonight against the Mets. We will have an opener spot going forward until one of our starters returns. While I understand the logic of the opener, I don't know why we aren't allowing our follower to go more than 3 innings. Yesterday we had a 5 run lead, our follower was perfect through 3 and we pulled him. I get the need for a win, but let him go more with the fact that he hasn't allowed a baserunner. I like this Cortes kid. He is a plucky pitcher with all sorts of arm angles and great command. Maybe he is a future starter for us? Maybe he stays in this role. I don't know and don't really care right now, but we need some momentum before we see the A's after the CWS series

You are not seeing things objectively. The Yankees needed Keuchel. Sabathia is on his last legs . Will be lucky to last the season . Happ is the definition of mediocrity. And Paxton is too fragile. Now , they will have to give up prospects to get a good starter . Meanwhile, they are losing games . Keuchel only would have cost money . Cashman missed the boat .

... and only 13 M LOL!

That figure is ridiculous even if Keuchel shits the bed for Yankee spending standards.

Yankees are 4-8 in June with 77 runs allowed in 12 games.

And not exactly against the strongest part of the schedule...

I will say this about the Yankees. In all the time I've been following them, since the Seventies, they've never really had a total in-season collapse, even though there have been many times I thought one was about to happen.

Good news - the Yanks tore Snell a new *******

Bad news - my fantasy team now has a 17 ERA for the week

I am always 100% willing to sacrifice my fantasy team for the good of the Red Sox.

We are adding Judge to a lineup that just laid waste to the Rays pitching staff. One that is still #1 in baseball in ERA. It is still 0.53 ahead of Houston for the AL lead. This is after getting squashed for 12 runs today. This lineup is no joke

No word yet on who gets booted for Judge. But if I had to guess I think Hale gets DFA'd and Nestor gets sent down for Judge and Chance Adams. They need another long man in the pen.

Cortes is no longer listed on the active roster. My guess is we try to retain Hale and Cessa, as both would end up on waivers and I would bet both would be taken. Hale's velocity bump will have dumpster diving teams bite. Cessa's pure stuff would as well. For tonight, we hope Paxton and tomorrow Tanaka could give us some length. All of our big relievers should be rested sans Chap who is still usable tonight after only throwing 7 pitches yesterday.

Boone really mixing things up with today's lineup:

1. Aaron Judge RF

2. Gary Sanchez C

3. Didi Gregorius SS

4. Giancarlo Stanton

5. Edwin Encarnacion 1B

6. Brett Gardner CF

7. Gleyber Torres 2B

8. Gio Urshela 3B

9. Cameron Maybin LF

P James Paxton

Hicks out again, supposedly he's dealing with a shoulder issue now. I hope he does not become the next Ellsbury. I'm also surprised they did not make a move to add another reliever. With Green and Hale unable to pitch today, they'd be shorthanded if this game went into extras or Paxton shits the bed.

Maybin done for awhile with a calf injury. Paxton was wild enough to be tough to hit. The pen picks him up. Sanchez and Gleyber go yard again. Yanks take game 2.

My guess is tomorrow Chapman isn’t available after a long inning. Tanaka going for us after he had a CG SO of the Rays last time out. Big spot for him vs Miley. Likely gonna see Kahnle, Ottavino and Britton as the 7-8-9 guys if we have a lead.

Yanks lineup again punishes the Astros. This time, we came back and bludgeoned one of the best relievers in the game in Pressly. Tanaka was really good. Holder couldn’t live up to his name, and he’s been pretty bad this year. Ottavino and Britton let some guys reach base, but we’re unscored upon and there’s the game. 8 in a row with the Sox and rays losing. Now 6 up on the Rays in the L column and 9 up on the Sox. Likely ends today vs Verlander, but stranger things have happened

I watched that game last night . There was a definite playoff atmosphere with both the players and the fans . Every at bat was a battle .

It was pretty cool. Today has the feel of a “nice to have” game where we’ll give an effort but be entirely happy with a 3-1 series.

I get the whole rest idea, but yesterday he sat Gleyber and Gary, yet both had hit HRs in three straight. Last night Stanton broke out with 4 RBI and he’s sitting today.
