I hope the Yankees get him. Seriously, I do.

He's a cancer that will drain their budget and force a cliff on them.

If he takes out one of our middle IF'ers, we'll get back at 'em.

You don't win with all choir boys for sure but good people win and win big over a period of time. Personally I think that quality of character has been emphasized as well as talent with respect to the construction of this team. This is a quality team. My favorite Red Sox team since 1955!

It was heart warming to see Macholo strike out to end the game. The cherry on top!

The punk K'd 3 times in the most important game of his life.

How appropriate.

Machado reminds me of Albert Belle in this way: The owners won't want to sign him because of the optics of it but they'll do it because he's a great talent and they know they can't trust the other owners not to do it. He's nothing but trouble for MLB and the team that signs him.

Yep. I really wanted him to make the final out, seeing his season end as he spun to one knee knowing that will be the play that is replayed forever, was awesome!

Machado is a hell of a player. He’s also a punk. I think his attitude and cheap shots will hurt him a lot. I doubt he ends up in NY where mid season, I thought it was a near certainty

My prediction has always been he ends up in Chicago, where I could see both teams being interested. The White Sox are loaded with young players and really need a superstar to bring it all together (and reportedly tried to acquire him last year). And the Cubs have a lot of money to spend and will soon have a vacancy at shortstop once they unload Addison Russell.

Now Addison Russell is a guy I could see the Yankees acquiring...

I don't.

It was poetic that he ended the game on his knees as we celebrated.

Everything is a cliff if you want it to be.

Man I remember Albert Belle.. putting aside the fact that he was one of the best hitters of all time, the guy was ruthless.. throwing forearms to break up double plays, etc.. the rules were a bit different back then though. I will say that I would want Albert Belle on my team seven days a week.. the fielding was suspect but the man struck fear in opposing pitchers.. I don't remember him stepping on other players ankles though.. and this was back in the 90s.

I'd love to see the Yankees sign this cancerous, cantankerous, crusty clown.

Plus, we can see a few brawls along the way.

Machado to the Cubs. Harper to the Yankees. Kershaw opts our but re-signs with the Dodgers...

Reasonable calls. We'll see how you do.

Phillies are gonna have a say...

Yes, they’re going to say hello to Josh Donaldson. Or possibly the most underrated from this free agent class - AJ Pollock...

I could see the Phillies going nutty on Machado or Harper.

I think we may see this:

Phillies: Harper & Kimbrel

Yanks: Machado, Corbin & Morton

Cubs: Kershaw

LAD: Keuchel & A Miller

HOU: Eovaldi & Y Grandal

BOS: Ottavino & Pearce

STL: Donaldson

SEA: Cruz

MIL: Brantley & Britton

WSH: Ramos

COL: M Gonzalez, Happ

This sounds like a Thunder post to me.

Donaldson might be a nice pick up for someone this year if his market has deflated over health concerns.

Anyone who signs Charlie Morton may live to regret it. I think he's a ticking time bomb as he fell apart at year end.

I also wouldn't be a fan of Familia pitching for the Sox. I'd rather they give the role to Barnes and sign some cheaper bullpen arms to fill out the roster if they need to.

Just so you know, Familia would be a fan of you pitching for the Sox...

Seems a couple of news outlets are reporting the Yankees tried to get segura from Seattle as well as Paxton.

Maybe the Yankees are sincere in saying they are not fans of Machado.

Now, I hear SD might get Seguro & Mike Leake with Wil Myers going to SEA.

If that happens then the Yankees would have to sign Machado because there is not much else offensively on the free agent market at short stop.

Machado’s Agent should use that leverage to squeeze every last ounce of cash possible out of cashman.

They could slide Gleyber Torres to shortstop and sign a 2b like LeMahieu or Lowrie or Asdrubal Cabrera or Marwin Gonzalez. Or go see Jeter and get Starlin Castro back...

The New York reporters all think the Yankees want to keep Torres at second.

Either way, if the Yankees lose leverage, they would be nuts to shell out huge dollars for Machado.

If so, they’ll find a stopgap shortstop. Possibly one who isn’t a big offensive contributor like Iglesias...
