Yanks split the series now we have to do it too.

I would prefer this team takes game 3. I don’t like this team’s chances down 2-1.

The SOX are gonna need some more smoke and mirrors to get back to Fenway for game 5.

If this offense doesn’t hit you can say goodnight once again. It’s the same old same song with this group. It’s scary to think this team could end up with 294 wins the last 3 seasons and 2 playoff wins. That’s just awful to say the least.

Top of the order did garbage. With our pathetic bottom of the order, our top 3-4 batters need to mash. If they go 1-9, we are toast. Mookie hasn't had good AB's.

Cora should have price ready to go out of the pen on Monday.

Our starters have to pitch to the characteristics of Yankee Stadium. We are trying to keep our LH starters away from the place which is a good idea because they are terrible there. But if our RH pitchers don't pitch to the characteristics of that place, I don't like our chances. If we are expecting to win post season games scoring 7-8 runs a game...think again. Does not happen in the post season.

3 damn runs in 13 innings is all we have managed since the 4th inning last night. I don’t care if Sale was pitching tonight. You can’t beat the good teams with bats like that. If they don’t wake up we lose this series.

Agreed with this. Price was excellent out of the pen last year.

Hey! Let's give credit where credit is due. Price is an above average pitcher against SHYTE teams!

So long as the games don't really mean anything...

That’s a huge win for us. Last year, we won only one game on the road in the playoffs and went undefeated at home. Also, with Porcello throwing his bullpen before game one then going in for an inning, I had heard the possibility that they flip flop Eovaldi and Porcello. Either way, we did our job. Now we have a shot to close it out at home, although as I’ve told every person I know, this thing is going 5

Not much to say. The Yankees just look like the better team. Their hitting and their bullpen for sure--way, way better then ours. And we knew all of this last month. Plus even their defense looks better than ours. To add insult to injury, Tanaka completely outpitched Price last night.

Friday night was the harbinger. Sale pitched a gem, JD Martinez got the huge 3 run dinger, and the Sox barely won because our bullpen stinks, the Yankees' doesn't, and the Yankees hitters are relentless.

I think most or all of this falls on DD. He spent like a drunken sailor on starting pitching and for guys like Price, Porcello, and the late, great Pomeranz. But, except for Kimbrel, he didn't do much about the bullpen. He did fix the lineup however with JD Martinez. That's how come the 108 wins--the Sox also scored the most runs in MLB (but only barely because the Yankees were gaining on us).

Kinsler is due to retire. Total assclown at bat

He's 2 for 8 in the series. Not great, but this is a pretty dumb comment, STORK.

(1) The Red Sox had such an easy regular season, we really don't know how this team will respond to adversity. I suppose we will learn something about this team over the next 2-3 games.

(2) There is a sense that the Red Sox went to sleep late in the season--winning the division easily--and may not wake up in time.

(3) The offense is obviously struggling. Cora needs to manage the offense with greater urgency. In a series like this, it matters when your catcher (the great Sandy Leon) is an automatic out. It matters when your third baseman (Nunez) sucks as a hitter. Against a RHP in Yankees stadium (Serverino), I would start Devers at 3b to add some power to the lineup in a stadium that gives up a ton of HRs and I would start Swihart at catcher for both games. The Red Sox need to get production out of the bottom of the lineup. I would also begin platooning Holt and Kinsler, with Holt starting at 2b against righties. Kinsler hasn't been awful, but the Red Sox need some players to get hot with the bat. Maybe Holt can have a 3 for 4 game in Yankees stadium against a righty starter. Maybe Holt can get a cheap HR down the right field line in a stadium that gives up a ton of cheap HRs.

(4) If the series goes 5, I'm assuming Tanaka pitches game 5 instead of Happ.

(5) If the Red Sox move on to the next round, I would demote Price to the bullpen and make E-Rod the fourth starter against the Astros/Guardians.

(6) It is not all doom-and-gloom for the Red Sox. The Red Sox just need one big start from Eovaldi or Porcello and then it goes back to Boston in a game 5 with Chris Sale. Based on what we saw from Chris Sale, I think the Red Sox win game 5; the hard part is getting the series back to Boston.

All makes pretty good sense.

I'm almost cheering more for Price to do well just to shut up the haters to some degree than anything else.

Almost.

I'm confident he'll do well, but I'll still be confident in his next game, even if he does poorly tonight.

Your confidence is admirable, moon. Still feel the same?

"Get in the f***ing box!"--the only SOX highlight tonight.

That was great.

Kelly's pitching was also a highlight. I am one of the ones who didn't want him on the postseason roster. He came up big last night. Even though we didn't win the game, Kelly's 2.1 innings with 0 runs given up was huge at that point in the game.

One game you babies

I'm with you. Everybody here knew we wouldn't sweep, so we were going to lose at least one along the way. Now, we lose 1, tying the series at 1-1, and you guys are acting like the season is over. The Red Sox don't deserve fans like you. If you guys are going to quit, you don't deserve to be a fan of this team.

The Sox are taking both games in the Bronx. No need to get back to Fenway.

For the people bitching about the offense. That’s the point of postseason baseball.

Pitching + defense = parades.

That offense stuff is for regular season & player stats......

In the postseason you are expected to win 3-2 baseball games.....

This is 100% on the pitching.

This game is on the offense as much as it is on Price. Price could have pitched a stellar game and we likely still would not have won with only 2 runs scored.

Guess again, Kimmi

Yup, I was very wrong about Price's start. I really thought he was going to do it.

I feel bad for the guy.

This. Plus Kelly was an absolute beast. Those 2 kept us in a position to turn Prices disaster into a W.

We only scored 2 last night.

Deserved to lose on both counts.

Kimmi. Please don’t. He has 217 million reasons why you shouldn’t
