As much as I believe the Sox need to give Pom this start, I hope that Cora has him on a short leash and is not willing to sacrifice this game just because of our big lead in the division. Hopefully, Pom gives us a good outing.

Keep the good times rolling!

WIN!!!

All true, especially the part about the short leash. I also think he may be on a short leash for the future depending on how he does in this game. It's nice to have that 9 game lead so we can afford to take a chance on him again.

An interesting twist is to see Pom at 1-5 with a 6.56 ERA , on a team that 45 games over .500 A good outing ( 5+ innings, 2 runs, no HR) would set him up to be part of the final 7 weeks, maybe going to the bullpen eventually, and in consideration for the post season roster from the pen. Obviously when Rodriguez returns ready to go, he will get preference for pitching back into shape as a playoff starter. No guarantees there either as his ankle stability and leg strength may take longer to come around.

A bad performance today from Drew likely leads to a sooner than later end of his Sox career.

Assuming Poms is average we should take this one. Or assuming he is as lucky as he was last start...... I don’t know what to expect from him anymore. He has to have one good start in him one would think.....

Jays are in the cages right now dialing down the pitching machines to 88 so they can get their timing down and don't tear any obliques swinging at his garbage.

Geez Remy battling Cancer again. These last few bouts have got to be rough on him. Somebody can correct me if I am wrong. But I think his first battle was followed by a decent period of remission. Now it seems he has been back in this fight on a much more regular basis.

probably just my aging memory, but when was the last time the top 3 guys started the first inning with some action. Betts and Beni have been in those slots for awhile, the #3 hitter has varied (JDM, Moreland, etc) ?? Edited by vegasbob

Here's exactly what's wrong with Pomeranz. Gets 2 outs on about 9 pitches, then gives up a 2 out, 1-2 shot to left, then walks the next guy. now looking at trouble plus a bigger pitch count in the 20's leading to a 5 inning run. He does close out the inning but this is not a winner.

Pom pitching from the stretch that way is very discouraging. It looks like he thinks he is going to start throwing 86 mph FB's and is just flinging his body at home plate.

This guy is cooked. Why they keep running him out there.

Who else are you going ot put out there right now? And keep in mind, Velazquez hasn;t pitched more than 2 innings at a time since April.
