Fantastic win!

WOW!

I hate to say anything negative, but am I the only one who noticed Bogey not getting a good jump out of the box on that error by Andujar? Then, I'm not sure he ran all out and might have beat the throw had it been caught.

Again, not raining on the parade,,,,

The links on Andujar's defense:

the Yankees have no complaints about rookie third baseman Miguel Andujar’s offense. However, his -22.0 UZR/150 is the worst in MLB by any player at any position.

Multiple executives told The Post that Andujar’s free-swinging penchant and poor defensive metrics are areas of concern, with one saying, “Andujar is a horrendous third baseman. This all feels like the Yankees building up a player’s value to trade him for a young, controllable starter and then they will revisit the issue of third base in the offseason with [brandon] Drury, an outside third baseman or signing Machado.”

Andujar also had drawn just 15 walks in 327 plate appearances and the metrics on FanGraphs have Andujar as by far the worst defensive third baseman of the 21 qualified.

This game makes you appreciates great defense. If Betts play RF we might be looking at an entirely different game. If that airhead Andujar could actually make plays, we wouldn't have a shot at a comeback.

What about the decision to pitch to Benintendi in the 10th inning with 2 outs? Boone has to walk him there, load the bases, and face Jackie Bradley. Benintendi is obviously a superior hitter to Jackie Bradley. Thus, you can't let Benintendi beat you with a weaker hitter on deck.

It is also worth noting that Benintendi is much more likely to put the ball in play than Bradley. Bradley Jr. strikes out around 25% of the time; Benintendi strikes out around 16% of the time.

Boone may have a short career as Yankem manager. And you made a great point. I completely forgot that JBJ would be batting after Beni. It appears Boone also forgot.

Also it was a L vs R match up. What was Boone thinking?

Yankees fan and WFAN sports host Mike Francesa had some interesting tweets:

Bulletin to Boone: this is now, currently, no longer a “great” season.

Total Collapse!

A new Boston Massacre is now in the books.

Don’t blame Andujar, this is all on Chapman and how he is used.

The last tweet is interesting--he appears to be blaming Boone for misusing Chapman. He will probably explain himself on WFAN on Monday. Sports radio in New York should be entertaining on Monday.

So, uh, Boone is not supposed to use his closer, who has blown one save all year and hasn't pitched in 5 days, to start the 9th inning in a save situation against their division rivals? When and how is he supposed to use him, then? Or am I missing something? I'm interested to see what Francesca's reasoning is here.

Maybe he's just trying to say that once Chapman has demonstrated he can't find the zone in a given outing, he should be out of the game?

Glad I couldn’t stay up for this one. Here is what I can fault Boone for.

Chap has been erratic of late. You let him walk the bases loaded with 2 outs and think it’s a good idea to let him face Martinez? You have Green ready fresh, you go to him at some point. You don’t go to Holder who needs to be worked up to pitching against Boston. I understand not walking Beni from the simple point that he’d have no margin for error and had just thrown a wild pitch. You don’t want to move the winning run up 90 feet then let them score on a wild pitch.

We needed to get out of Fenway. This team isn’t ready for prime time as is. Once our guys get back and we get our confidence back, we’ll be ready

MFY's are going to limp into the end of the season. They are too young. There is something to be said for having at least enough experience around to matter. The Yankee team has completely fallen apart since the injuries to Judge and Sanchez and there are only two reasons for that sort of collapse:

- a team that is too young

- a manager that has no earthly idea how to keep his team together under the rigors of the 162

Now even pulling it together for season end is questionable if only because its not only us that know Boone is an idiot. His team knows he is an idiot. I don't buy the idea that once the Yankee team gets to the post season it will be fine. If they fail like this under the fire of the 162, does it make any rational sense to expect they won't fail in the post season as well? Too many young guys in too many key spots and a manager that is so clueless that he is only spared from the bottom of the division's managers by the ever awful Gibby.

I too could not stay up for the finale and actually went to bed when the Yankees scored 4 in the 7th. Not sure I would have brought Price out for the 7th. As for Betances in the 9th, that's all on him, not the manager. Plus that single by Benintendi was not hit hard--it was a grounder with eyes.

Nobody was hitting last night, and both rallies depended on walks and errors. Getting to Betances, however, is oh so sweet--which the Yankees almost did vs. Kimbrel Saturday.

Great baserunning by JBJ scoring from 2b on the groundout-turned-error. Tied the game

Chapman blew the save, Max. Betances pitcher a scoreless 8th.
