If you consider the teams that we play against for the most part, yes we will win a lot of games but are we that good? Most of the teams playing today pretty much suck. Lets go Sox!

The flip side of that is that those other three teams in the ALE may not have such a bad record if they played in another division.

Edit: Baltimore not withstanding. The O's would suck in any division.

You can't help who's on the schedule, all you can do is play. And the Sox sure have been playing

But they have beaten the Yankems 4 times so far.

Depends on the division.

Entering Monday's games, the AL East had a cumulative record of 230-215 (.517), the AL Central 183-263 (.410) and the AL West 254-201 (.558).

Ya ya ya. We get it. The AL West is the superior division and that's the only reason the Mariners don't have a better record than the Sox or the Yankees.

You said that very politely.

Thank you for that.

You know how I value manors and politeness.:P

Thank you, Sir. You may have noticed that diplomacy is my forte. Usually. :D

Regular posters to this forum know that I place great weight on metrics that show the Mariners to be a significant tier below the Astros, Red Sox and Yankees.

The Mariners face a daunting task in a division with perhaps baseball's best team and three clubs that entered today's games at a combined even .500.

If we stay healthy and take them one game at a time, we should have a good Season.

A return to health and effectiveness by Wright, Pomeranz and pedroia would really push us over the top,

No one cares.

1946 was the last year the Sox cracked 100. 104 wins

Before that, it was 1915 & 1912, if memory serves me?

It's been a long century! Oy. Give me a break.

We are on pace for 111 wins. Your math is wrong.

There is no stopping this. The math is the math. The stats can't be wrong.

Only history can stop this! ;) KMA

We are 63 out of 92 = .6847826087

.6847826087 x 162 = 110.9347826087 wins

Of course, meaning we will win game 111 in the 87th inning.

Yes. We will win 111 games. Don't fight the math ladies! The math loves you! You are Sox fans, therefore you ARE! So alive!

Stay healthy and take it one game at a time. That's the key. Don't get ahead of ourselves.

It won't be easy, but I like us for the division.

Most wins in the regular MLB season is shared by the 1906 Cubs (116-36) and the 2001 Mariners (116-46). To break that record the SOX would have to finish at 54-16; a winning percentage of .771. Edited by SPLENDIDSPLINTER

Btw, as most of you already know, that 2001 Seattle club didn't make it to the WS. To further the point, the 2006 Cards won 83 games and won the WS.

Just gimme the 11, thanks.

It may have to be twelve but that's still all right. If the Sox play .500 ball they still will end with 98 wins which is pretty dang good.

Today the Sox stand at 64-29 with a .688 record. They have 69 games left. 69 games x .688 = 47.472. Rounding down to 47-22, that projects to 111-51. I agree with Bellhorn, I'll take it.

As we all know, the playoffs are largely a crap shoot. That said, the thing that correlates best with postseason wins is regular season wins, not HFA, not experience, not momentum, etc. It shouldn't be a surprise that the team with the best record in the regular season is more likely to win in the postseason, but even that advantage is very slight.
