How Good Can This Sox Team Be?

I don't think I've seen a Red Sox team play this well day-in, day-out since that run in 2004. My concern is that it's hard to maintain that level of play for an extended period of time.

 

I believe that when they're playing well this team has the capability to win the WSC but they have to be playing well during the playoffs to pull it off. I can see a couple of peaks and valleys over the next month and a half, I'm just now hoping they're peaking again during October.

 

IMO that'll be the biggest challenge Cora faces now - getting this team ready to play at the right time. I'm confident they have the talent. It's just a matter of pulling it all together at the right time.

 

We did do very well to start the season at 17-2 and now this run... No, I don't think we've seen any Sox team look this good.

You can call me the voice of paranoia, but we still have plenty of work to do to clinch the division.

 

You never want to get too far ahead of yourself, that's for sure.

 

That said, I am guessing that if the roles were reversed, most people would already have the Yankees crowned as the division champs.

 

Or looking at it another way, I bet many people are more confident of the Yankees making the playoffs than they are of the Red Sox winning the division, even though the Yankees lead for the playoffs is smaller than our lead for the division.

 

I guess the sense that something is going to go wrong is still ingrained in our baseball minds.
